The big man sneered. “I know that. I don’t need to be lectured. Back off, Locke.”

The mounting tension was definitely no good, and Tessa had an idea. It was a risk because she didn’t know if Gage liked women or not despite his earlier remarks.

Very gently, she went to the fighter’s injured side and took his hand. The look he gave her would have made a weaker soul to cower in fright, but not Tessa. Being an ER doctor also meant taming beasts. Gently caressing his hand that relaxed a little, she made sure not to hold it too hard. Not yet.

Offering him a flirty smile, she stepped forward, admiring his body on the bed. The way his cock twitched a little, made her hope that her plan worked.

“A big cage fighter like you shouldn’t be afraid of a defenseless doctor like me.”

His blue irises didn’t look convinced, which revealed depth and intelligence beyond the rough appearance of the warrior.

“I never want to hurt my patients. Do you believe me?”

Softening her voice, Tessa ignored Locke who crossed his arms, his sea-colored eyes turning to solid ice.

Slightly lifting Gage’s hand, she moved forward so his fingers almost touched her breast. “Is there anything I can do to alleviate your pain a little?”

The heat that flared in her patient’s eyes almost made her smile. She stepped to the side a little, his head following her.

“I’m sure I can suggest a few options, Doctor.”

From the corner of her eye, Gage’s cock twitched. Without seeming to think about it, his free hand slid down, and cupped his slowly growing member in his hand.

Wetting her lips, Tessa saw his eyes following her movement. At that moment, she knew it was time.

Swiftly, not giving him time to react, she pulled his arm hard, and replaced the joint into its natural position.

His howl of pain shook the room. Locke leaped forward, probably ready to react. Maybe he feared that his friend would attack her. Instead, Gage cradled his arm and cursed between his clenched jaw. “You tricked me!”

Ignoring him once more, she gathered the bandages. When she approached, Gage tried to move away, but she was having none of it.

“I’ll bandage your arm in place. It’s to immobilize it. With the injection, ice, and rest, you’ll soon be good to go.”

Locke approached to once more help Tessa move his friend. Bandaging the big man wasn’t an easy task—it required plastering herself against him to make sure the gauze was positioned properly. As she ensured it was tight enough, Gage let himself fall forward, burying his face between her breasts.

When Tessa pushed him away, the smile on his face made her laugh and roll her eyes.

“Thank you for allowing me the best of painkillers, Doctor. But I think I need another dose. Maybe if you remove your top…”

Locke helped his friend on the pillows, shaking his head. “She’s trying to help and you’re acting like a jerk.”

The grin still firmly in place, Gage sighed. “Yeah, that’s me.”

Tessa prepared a healthy dose of painkillers and an anti-inflammatory, and after giving him the injection, pulled a blanket over his body.

“I’ll check on you later to make sure you’re okay. Rest now.”

She put her hand on his forehead until his eyes drifted close. His face relaxed as he fell asleep.

Returning to the first aid kit, she started to put it back in order. When she closed the lid, she finally looked up at Locke. “Now, we need to talk.”
