“Hey,” I say, reaching up to cup his cheek. “What’s wrong? Are you okay?”

He can’t seem to speak as tears slide down his cheeks and he shakes his head. He bends down to kiss me even as he cries and it’s so tender and filled with so much warmth it confuses the hell out of me.

“Bentley?” I ask again, when he pulls away. “Talk to me.”

He opens his mouth but nothing comes out, and then he’s pulling off of me, letting my dick and fingers slip free of his body, before he scrambles off the bed and hurries out of theroom. My heart is jackhammering because I have no idea what’s going on and I’m really starting to freak out now. Did I hurt him? Did I scare him? What the fuck is he doing?

I swallow and sit up when he comes back a second later holding his phone in one hand and typing something, my phone in his other hand. He finishes typing and then climbs back on the bed, still wearing his cum soaked thong and cowboy hat, my spunk sliding down his legs. He hands me my phone before he wipes tears from his eyes. What the fuck?

I take it, and see that I have a new message from him. I open it, and stare, tears starting to fill my eyes now too, as a smile spreads across my face and I let out a laugh. “Really?” I say, looking at him, and he nods, wiping more tears away.

“I love you, too, cowboy,” I tell him, and he’s kissing me again in a heartbeat.

A week later, we’re gathered at the community pool that is shared by the residents of the apartment complex, celebrating Isabella and Johnny’s thirtieth wedding anniversary. There’s love songs playing from portable speakers, balloons and gifts set up on one table, and heaps of delicious food arranged on another one. Scads of guests are escaping the July heat by cooling off in the pool and more people are visiting as they snack and drink. Isabella looks lovely in a red and yellow sundress and Johnny wears chino shorts and a white short sleeved button up. They haven’t drifted from each other’s sides once all evening and the party has been going for several hours already.

Alex has been introducing me to some of the other neighbors in the complex and we’ve enjoyed some time inthe pool as well. Tommy is sitting at one of the tables with Pierre on his lap, feeding his husband food as if Pierre’s a baby bird. Honestly it’s kind of adorable, and they seem really happy now, which I love.

As the guests start to disperse and a slow song comes on the radio, Johnny takes his wife into his arms and begins to dance with her, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen two people who are more in love.

“Hey,” I hear, and turn to see Alex next to me, smiling. “They’re pretty beautiful together, aren’t they?”

I nod. “Dance with me?” I ask, and he smiles wider.

“Yeah, cowboy, I’ll dance with you.”

I take him in my arms right where we’re standing and hold him close, and as I turn slowly, swaying to the music, I catch Isabella smiling at us.

My chest squeezes as Alex rests his head on my shoulder and sighs. I never could have imagined that moving to Boston to be near Peyton and start up my business would lead me here, into the arms of this incredible man and into the lives of these incredible people who have become more than a family to me.

“I can’t breathe, cowboy,” Alex says, when I press a kiss to his hair and squeeze him tightly against me.

“Hush,” I murmur. “You’re ruining the moment.”

He laughs and plants a kiss on my jaw. “I love you,” he says, and I look down at him.

“I love you, too, darling.” He smiles and rests his head back on my shoulder. And when the song on the speakers changes toLoverby Taylor Swift, I start to sing along and Alex practically purrs as the words drift over his ear.

“Love when you sing,” he murmurs.

Before the family parts for the evening, Isabella and Johnny open the gifts we got them. They both love the blanket I made for them and are thanking me profusely, telling me how wonderful it will look in their apartment and how talented I am, and how incredibly soft it is. When they open the gift that’s from all four of us they are both in tears, staring at the oil painting we had done for them of one of their wedding photos.

By the time the party has ended and everything has been cleaned up it’s nearly midnight, and I can’t believe I lasted as long as I did, and even managed to enjoy myself the entire time. I am exhausted though.

Alex takes my hand and leads me home, and we shower together, before changing. Him into a fresh pair of briefs and me into my lacy purple panties. We climb into bed and Marble hops up, and nuzzles her head against my hand, demanding attention. We both pet her and she purrs before flopping down between us. We kiss a few times before we link hands and slowly drift to sleep.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Two months later

“Ready?” I ask, holding my hand out to Alex. I told him to get dressed up somewhat and that I had a birthday surprise for him. My man is thirty today and we’re celebrating by doing something I know he will love.

He smiles and takes my hand, and we head outside into the beautiful fall weather. He blushes when I open his door for him and slides inside.

The drive takes about fifteen minutes, and when I pull up outside a local regional theater and Alex sees the huge poster advertising this month's play, his mouth falls open.
