“Fine,” I growled. “What do you propose, oh grand chess master?”

Cameron’s smile widened, and he leaned back in the chair again, clearly enjoying being in the power seat. “Well, since you asked so nicely, I think it’s time for a little field trip. You, me, and a couple of my boys need to pay a visit to someone who can help you out with this situation. Let’s just say, he owes me a favor, and it’s time to cash it in.”

I sighed, knowing I had no choice but to play along.

This kid had my balls clutched tightly in his grasp, and there was nothing I could do but see where this twisted game of his would lead.

“What the hell is going on in here?” King bellowed from the doorway. “Carnage, get your ass out of my chair and go get ready for school.”

“See ya soon, Carebear.” The brat smiled as he strolled over to me, then whispered, “Oh, by the way, since I’m now part of the wedding, we can talk more later.”

Confused, I wasn’t sure how that information played into his blackmail. I watched as the brat strolled out of the office with his head held high, laughing like some super villain.

Getting up myself, King ordered, “Sit your ass back down, Carebear. It’s my turn.”

Taking my seat again, I groaned. “I really hate that fucking name.”

King smirked. “I know.”

“So, what do you want?”

“Everything settled with Josephine?”

“As soon as I find her,” I muttered mainly to myself before nodding. “Yeah.”

Leaning back in his chair, King took a long, good look at me and shook his head. While I needed to find Josie and explainsome things, something in King’s eyes told me I wasn’t going to like what he was about to say.

“Got company coming in a few days. I’m sure you’ve seen how busy the clubhouse has been lately.”

“Been busy at the clinic and hospital. Sorry if I haven’t been around much to help.”

“No worries,” King said, waving me off. “The reason you are here is because I need your help with something else, and it’s my understanding that you have some time off before you are due back at the hospital for your next rotation.”

“That’s right,” I cautiously muttered.

“I’ve also just recently learned that when you were in high school, you worked summers at a day camp for kids. That true?”

Narrowing my eyes, I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned back in my chair, unsure where he was going with this.

“That’s right. The worst six weeks of my life.”

“LEEANN!” King bellowed, and Laurel’s mother strolled in with Laurel and her daughters.

All of them grinning from ear to ear.

It was creepy.

However, it was Frankie’s laughter in the background that got my hackles up as I sat up in the chair, before the realization of Cameron’s words hit me like a fucking wrecking ball.

Jumping to my feet, I vehemently shook my head.

“No. HELL NO!”

“It’s only until the wedding.” King lightly chuckled.

“No.”

“Apparently, the wedding planning is more extensive than anyone expected. The ladies can’t handle everything on their own and watch the kids, and Josie needs help.”
