“I need you to take the trash out once she’s done cleaning out her locker. She is no longer allowed on the premises,” he tells them.

I take a step forward, only for the woman to try and throw herself at me. “Please. Don’t do this.”

“Just be glad you’re leaving here breathing with every body part intact,” I say coolly as I step around her.

Kenji, Miya and I walk out of the locker room together.

“I’ll see you two later?” Miya asks.

“Stay out of trouble,” Kenji says, making her roll her eyes.

“But where is the fun in that?” she teases, making Kenji frown and me laugh as she skips away.

The urge tofind Johnny Walsh has been riding me. It’s been two days since Kai admitted he was looking for him. I tried to find the maid once, but almost ran into my father instead.

Knowing Callum asked me to steer clear, I have had to get creative.

When I talked to Miss Kelly, I was able to find out that the maids name was Rosalie, and she goes by Rosa. I also found out she was five months pregnant.

I can’t say for sure, but I hope it’s Johnny. That would mean she has seen him since he left.

Father’s been holed up in his office all morning, giving me the opportunity to wander around and ask questions. One of the cooks tells me where to find her.

Quietly I slip into the dining room. She’s sitting at the table dusting the fine china that is always on the table even though no one has eaten there in years.

“Rosa,” I call her name softly.

She startles, turning to me.

“Yes, ma’am,” she asks quietly.

“Could you take a walk with me?” I ask, pointing to the French doors that lead outside.

She looks at them, her eyes fearful, but nods.

Once I lead her outside, I turn to her.

“I heard you are with child. Is it Johnny’s?” I whisper.

Her eyes widen. “No. It’s not.”

Damn.

“I see. Do you know where he is?”

She shakes her head in denial. “I don’t think I’m supposed to be talking about this.”

“Nothing you say will be repeated. I promise,” I say softly, trying to calm her nerves.

After a few beats of silence, I let out a sigh. I don’t know what I’m doing. This is why women shouldn’t be involved in business.

“Did he touch you?” Rosa asks, her hand touching my arm.

I startle, looking at her. “Who?”

“Johnny.”

I bite my lip, not answering her. I don’t know to respond to get the answer I need.
