“Well, I’m sorry I wasted your time.”
When I stand, he stands with me, grabbing my hand, pulling me into his chest for a hug. I can see Callum making his way.
Kai takes this moment to lean down into my ear.
“You’re not a waste of time. You’remine.Don’t let those other men touch you. If they do, I’ll kill them. Do you understand?” he says with an eerie calm.
I pull back, looking into his face. He’s dead serious.
“Is this a joke?”
Callum asks at my side, “Is everything okay here?”
I glance over. “Yes. We were just saying our goodbyes.”
Callum nods. “I’ll wait by the door.”
As he moves toward the door, Kai leans in, pressing his lips to mine, hard and fast.
My breath catches. “I’ll walk you out. Remember what I said.”
“What?”
He growls, “Mine, princess. You aremine.”
The pure possessiveness in his voice does things to my body. I have never had anyone look at me the way he is looking at me now.
Wasn’t I just asking for this?
So why does the idea scare me?
“Come on. Callum is waving for us to go.” He says, pulling me to the door, his hand laced with mine.
When we reach Callum, he presses a kiss to my cheek.
“I’d like our second date sooner rather than later.”
He’s looking at me, but his words are for Callum.
“I’ll arrange it. Ready to go, Cleo?”
I nod, but I haven’t found the words to speak.
It’s not until we are in the car on the way home that I realize I hadn’t said a single word to his declaration.
His.
What the fuck does that mean?
I startedall of this as a way to grow closer to the Irish. To use Cleo to my advantage, but that’s all changed.
As soon as she admitted her innocence to me, the words filtered through my mind.
Mine.
I was her first date, her first kiss.
She is totally and utterly mine.
