He pulls her closer. “All right, kitten. Daddy has to handle business. I’ll reward your good behavior later.”

He smacks her ass as he hands her off to another man.

Then a new man walks into the room from the adjoining room.

“Ah, here he is. We’ve been waiting for you. Nate, have you had the pleasure of meeting the butcher?”

My blood freezes at the name.

This is the man who tortured Willow. He chased after us and stalked her for months. We thought he must have died at the warehouse since he hasn’t been seen, but obviously we were wrong. Unless he’s been stalking her still. I haven’t talked to her in forever.

Fuck. I can’t be here. I’m going to be sick. No, I’m going to kill him. I have to. I need to end this once and for all. I can’t though. They will kill me. Won’t they?

What the fuck am I going to do?

“What’s wrong?” Jared murmurs to me as his father continues to taunt Nate.

“That man that came in? He hurt me.”

“What?” he asks, going tense.

I don’t know what comes over me, but one second my mind is a mess and the next it goes quiet. Only one singular thought running through it.

Eliminate the threat.

“He hurt me, and I want him dead. Give me your gun,” I demand.

He looks at me like I’ve lost my mind. I feel like I have to.

“Why?”

“You said that gun was there for my protection. I want it. I am going to kill the man who hurt me. Are you going to be the kind of man who protects what’s his or are you going to be a pussy?”

His eyes harden as he pulls away from me, pulling his gun out. He checks the chamber, handing it to me.

“What’s going on, Jared?” His father stops to stare at us.

I don’t bother to answer. My eyes are on one man. He looks amused as I walk toward him.

He chuckles. “What are you going to…”

Bang.

I don’t hesitate. I don’t think. I walk right up to him, pulling the trigger as soon as I’m close enough that I know I won’t miss.

My ears ring as his body falls to the floor. My arms shake as I feel the blood spatter on my skin. I press my lips together, barely withholding a gag as I turn and walk back toward Jared. He smiles brightly at me.

“What the fuck, Jared? Get a hold of your bitch.”

Their voices are muffled, the ringing drowning them out.

He glares at his father. “He hurt her. She wanted to take care of him. I won’t deny my woman her vengeance. He was a liability anyway. He was still obsessed with Rocky’s bitch.”

My hand twitches on the gun at the mention of Willow.

I did this for you, Willow. You’ll rest easier knowing he is gone.

Bringing my eyes up from the floor, I meet Nate’s. His show a hint of concern, but I can’t reflect anything to him. I’m numb.
