I give him a small smile. “I already am.”
I rub my hands on his shoulders like I can’t stop touching him.
“I need a minute.” I try to push back from him, but he doesn’t let me go right away.
“There you are. I have been looking for you.” Katie pulls me from the man into her arms.
Before I can question it, she kisses me, slipping her tongue into my mouth.
I gasp, but she pulls away just as quick. “Sorry honey, this one’s mine.”
She winks at the guy as she pulls me away.
“What was that?” I hiss.
“We needed to move on. The sale was done. Now it’s my turn.”
I’m surprised by her actions. I’m even more surprised when I watch her make her own sale.
We continue our process a couple more times until I know I’ve fucked up.
I spot him.
Nate.
He’s on the edge of the floor, but his eyes are on me. I’m currently in my next victim’s arms as I attempt to sell to him. He’s not easily convinced, but I think I have him.
Before I can seal the deal, Nate makes his way through the crowd to me. I curse under my breath, trying to back up, but the guy on me doesn’t let me.
Then Nate is there, and the guy is gone, laid out on the floor.
Nate grabs my arm, pulling me away from the man and to the side of the building.
“What the fuck are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed? I knew you were selling drugs at parties, but to walk right into our rave and sell? Seriously?”
I swallow hard. “I didn’t have a choice. I’ll leave.”
I try to move away, but he keeps a hold on my arm. When I look up, his teeth are gritted.
“How much?”
“What?”
“How much do you have left to sell?”
I try to count in my head.
“I think seventeen.”
“Fuck,”he curses. “I can’t let you sit here and sell in my place, Hailee.”
“I can’t go back without selling them. They’ll kill me.” I whisper the words, but he must have heard them.
“Who will kill you?” he asks, making me shake my head. “How much per bag?”
“Ten.”
He pulls out his wallet, counting out money before handing it to me.
