“I know. We have to go now. Come on.”

He pulls at my arm, leading me out the front door. Once in the car, I pull my phone out.

This was all part of the plan. Let the guy track me then give him a way to contact me.

He didn’t disappoint.

There is already a text waiting.

I didn’t think you had it in you. The look on your face made it worth it.

Then there is a video. I hover my finger over it.

“The eagle is flying,” Bash calls into his comm.

We know the guy probably has hacked it, which is why we have codes. Bash saw the text and alerted the others that he’s here, but it looks like he is talking about me.

Pressing the video, I gasp.

It’s me. Standing over Killian. The last shot I took as the blood ricochets up.

“Bash,” I cry, collapsing into his side.

“It’s okay, Greer. It’s okay. I have you. Stay strong for me.”

His words are comforting which only makes me feel guilty.

Why am I accepting his comfort right now when I committed the most horrific sin?

I hurt someone I love.

How am I going to live with myself?

“I love him, Bash. I love him and I fucking hurt him. Fuck, I’m a terrible person.”

He kisses my head, rubbing his hand in my hair.

“Lacky Restroom,” Bash calls into his comm as we sit in the car, not moving as I watch Lo and Gio drag two bodies out in tarps.

I know whose bodies they are.

Conor and Killian.

My eyes well up again.

Bash is calling more nonsense in the comms, but I can’t focus anymore.

“Please tell me we are going to find this guy.”

“We are going to get you out of here, and I promise I will take care of everything. Trust me. Please.”

Several moments go by as I watch Lo and Gio throw the man I love and his fiercest protector who was also my protector into a crate. Then they jump into the truck, pulling out.

Bash turns on the car we are in, following loosely behind.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you drive,” I tell him after a couple minutes of silence.

“I haven’t in many years. It’s not usually safe to be in the front, but I figured the fewer eyes on this the better.”
