“Fine, but we don’t have a lot of time. Make it quick.”

Once she sneaks out of the room, I go to the window, taking in my surroundings.

The neighborhood we’re in is nice. Like, really nice. I’m talking pool in every backyard, grass greener than natural, and pricy lawn ornaments.

Where the fuck did Chase send me?

What kind of friends does he have? I know Chase is comfortable, but he doesn’t have this kind of money. This neighborhood screams wealth. Would I really be able to sneak out undetected?

Of course. The rich never think anything dangerous could happen to them. The worst that happens is they call the cops because you look like a hoodlum. By the time they show, you’ll be long gone.

I spin at the sound of the door opening. Hailee stands there with her arms full.

“You found a lot of shit, huh?” I smile.

“I found their bedroom. I feel kind of bad for snooping, but I got you a jacket and a couple things I think can work as a weapon.”

She tosses the items on the bed. I walk over, taking a closer look. She grabbed a pair of small scissors, a taser, a key chain, and a weird-looking bracelet.

“The key chain is interesting. Is that a dagger?” I ask as I pick it up.

“It’s not a real dagger, but I figured it may help. Looks like a collectible, so let’s hope they don’t get too mad. The taser was a good find. I don’t know why she isn’t carrying it, but it was in her nightstand.”

“What about the bracelet?”

She smiles. “Take off your bra and hand it here.”

“What?”

“Trust me.”

I hesitate for a split second before I slide off my bra underneath my shirt and hand it over to her. She takes the scissors and cuts a small hole in the side. Then she cuts the two rubber pieces off of the bracelet, leaving one a small little box. She slides that into the small hole she created in the bra, moving it until it is on the other side of the cup, near where my breasts meet.

“Here. It’s a fitness tracker. I won’t tell anyone about it, but it will make me feel better knowing I can find you.”

“I’m going to be fine. I can handle myself,” I reassure her.

“I know. I’ll still worry though.”

I pull her into a hug. “Thank you, Hails. You’re a great friend.”

“Don’t you forget it.” She squeezes me before pulling away. “Get ready. I heard the guys downstairs. Sounded like they were going out back.”

I slip my bra back on before putting on the jacket she brought me. Then I slide the scissors and key chain into my panty line, hoping they won’t find it there. The taser is a little bulkier, so I slip that into the jacket pocket.

“I’m ready.”

We slip out of the room together. Hailee goes down the stairs first, stopping at the bottom to check if the coast is clear. She glances back up, giving me the thumbs up.

Once I meet her at the bottom, she whispers to me, “Remember. Big commotion. That’s your sign.”

“Got it. Thanks again.”

“Thank me by coming back alive.”

She hustles around the corner while I move to wait by the front door. I hear her open the back door, leaving it open so I can hear their murmur of voices.

I can’t hear what is being said, but I know she is distracting them. I don’t know how long I’m supposed to wait, so I lean against the wall, straining to hear the sign or an alert that the plan is foiled.
