I can’t help but drop my head in defeat. Because honestly who wants to meet the guy they are sleeping withs mother when they were fooling around?

“Come here child there is no reason to be shy. Bash properly introduce us.”

I jump off the counter and adjust Bash’s shirt to make sure nothing is showing and go to greet his mother.

“Mamma this is Sofia, Sofia my mother Catrina.”

“Mrs. Catalini it’s a pleasure to me you.”

“You as well dear.” She grabs my hand and starts pulling me out of the room. “Be a dear Bash and bring us both some drinks and something to nibble on. It seems Sofia and I need to get to know each other.” She calls over her shoulder.

And for some reason I feel like I’m the lamb being led by the lion and I’m about to be slaughtered.

She leads me to the loveseat and pats the seat next to her. I perch on the edge of the couch, uncomfortable with the fact that I am sitting here in nothing but a dress shirt. I didn’t even put panties on.

“Sofia dear, how did you meet my son?”

The tone she uses seems friendly enough, but the look in her eye tells me she is suspicious of me.

“Oh, you know the usual. Boy comes to girl’s restaurant, girl insults boy’s underling, boy laughs and falls madly for the girl. Boy somehow convinces the girl to give him a chance and here we are.”

“Please tell me you are joking dear child.” Caterina asks looking absolutely appalled.

“No, that’s basically how it happened.” I tell her with a shrug not seeing the problem.

“It’s true mother.” Bash tells her while carrying a tray into the room full of goodies.

“Your coffee, Tesoro since you never got any earlier.”

I take the cup from him and cradle it in my hands absorbing the warmth.

“Hmm thank you.”

He winks at me before he turns to his mom.

“Your tea, Mamma.”

“Thank you,” she takes a sip while throwing me a disapproving look. “Well what else can you tell me Sofia? Are you from the neighborhood?”

“Originally my parents were from here but moved before I was born. I recently moved here to be closer to my uncle who lives here.”

“That’s nice. And friends?”

“What is with the twenty questions Mamma? This isn’t like you. What made you stop by today?”

Bash sits on the arm of the love seat next to me and reaches down to rub my back.

“Well a mother has a right to know who her only son is spending time with, does she not? And when I heard you had a woman spending time here I got curious, so I stopped by unannounced. It’s not like you told me about her”

I can’t help but snort that comes out.

“Yes, because showing up here unannounced sounds like such a good idea.” I mutter under my breath before taking a sip of my coffee.

“Bash!” She gasps while he chuckles.

“What Mamma?” he asks once he gets himself under control.

“She cannot talk that! That will only cause you trouble. What will those under you think if they hear her speak that way?” she asks in complete outrage.
