“With the right information, I don’t see why we couldn’t help her feel safe.”

I steeple my hands at my chin. A 15-year-old girl. It disgusts me. One of the redeeming qualities of the family is the fact that we do not harm innocent women and children. It is despicable. I am already imaging who I will send to do the job.

“We will offer protection for your granddaughter. Get us the information needed to provide the best protection and we will handle the rest.”

I stand and walk around the table to shake the man’s hand.

“Thank you, Don Bastiano. Thank you so much.” He pulls a folder out from under his jacket. “This is what you need. Anything you need, I will do for you. Anything.”

He kisses my hands as he continues to thank me.

I nod. “For now, go be with your granddaughter.”

“Dio benedica”

Gio sees him out and I walk back around and sink into my chair. I rub my hands down my face.

“I want you to call the Fox for this protection detail.”

“Sure, thing boss.”

Gio walks back in.

“What else is on my schedule for today?”

“That was the last appointment.”

“Good. We just have one last matter to discuss then. What are we going to do about the girls?”

“Tony has given them a vacation until we feel it’s safe for them to return to work. Luca is on Sofia. I chose Frank like he has been while Johnny protects Isabella.”

“Where are they now?”

“At the estate waiting on our command.”

I nod.

“Let’s get going then.”

I walk through the front door and turn to my guard stationed just inside.

“Where is she?”

“With Matteo, Don.”

“How have things been here?”

“Quiet.”

“They haven’t caused trouble?”

“They have been quiet most of the day.”

“That isn’t a good sign.” I mutter.

I walk upstairs and nod to Luca outside Matteo’s door. I pause and listen.
