The door clicks open, and he steps into the bedroom, his eyes lit up with amusement. “That girl is literally your perfect match.”

“I’m well aware of that, Killian. Now, can you please untie me so I can hunt her ass down and spank her for this little stunt?”

He crosses his arms across his chest, his smirk never dropping from his face. “I don’t know. I kind of like you tied up like this. Means you can’t derail our business with your obsession.”

I growl and tug at the ties around my wrists. I don’t remember reading anywhere that Ember was a Girl Scout, but these knots are impossible to get out of, and the solid wood of the headboard won’t give enough for me to break it.

“Weren’t you just saying how much you like her?”

“Oh, I do. She’s not my type, but I get it for you, absolutely.” He steps toward the bed. “The issue is that Lucas now knows who the Hunter is and just threatened your girl on the street with exposing you and killing those two guys from Vegas if she didn’t go with him.”

“He what?” I yell, panic slamming into me as I double my efforts to get out of the ties. What the hell is Killian doing in here, antagonizing me when my woman is in danger?

“She’s fine,” he placates, reaching over me and working on the ties as he continues. “But he’s adamant that she’ll be his wife, and she looked fucking terrified when I pulled him off her. I don’t know what your plan is to make amends with her, but I suggest you move up the timeline significantly.”

“Where is she?” I ask as he frees one of my hands, and I flex it as blood rushes into my fingers.

“On her way back to Las Vegas, I suspect.”

“You let her go?” I snap.

“You may be okay with kidnapping a woman, but I sure as hell am not.”

I glare up at him as he frees my other hand. “We’ll see about that once you find your woman.”

“I keep telling you, bro. That ain’t happening. This is way more trouble than I’m willing to go through.”

I shake my head, pushing myself off the edge of the bed and quickly dressing in the suit I took off last night. At least she didn’t take that with her. I would have deserved it for sure, but it would have been very inconvenient and would have given Killian way more leverage than I would like.

“Watching you fall is going to be so fucking entertaining. I can’t wait.”

He rolls his eyes and pulls his phone from his pocket. “If you want to get to your girl before the jet takes off, you might want to hurry up.”

“How do you know where she is?” I ask, my brow cocking in question.

“I may have put a tracker on the limo before I left. I assumed you’d want to intercept her.”

A laugh falls from my lips. “If you’re willing to track a woman you have no interest in, I can’t see kidnapping being a hard limit when you fall for one of your own.”

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

EMBER

Istare up at the jet with my heart in my throat.

Leaving LA feels wrong, and that in itself is all the evidence I need that I do, in fact, need to get out of here while I can.

Orion is dragging me back into his orbit, and if I let him, he’s going to steamroll me into forgiving him.

But what he’s done is too big for forgiveness.

The only way I’ll ever be free of the grief of losing Travis is if he’s six feet under.

I press my eyes closed at the thought, my chest tightening to the point of pain.

See? This is the fucking problem.

When I flew in, I was ready to end this, to have my life back without worrying that the Hunter is out there, hurting other families.
