Enzo
On my way.
My eyes meet Sully’s. “Did we have plans I was unaware of?”
“Eh.” He shrugs. “Figured you weren’t doing much this morning, so…” his voice trails off.
“So, what?”
“Sooo…”
Glaring at him, I wait for him to finish whatever it is he’s withholding.
“I might be kidnapping you and Enzo for the next twenty-four hours.”
I arch a brow and lean backward in my chair, my arms crossing over my chest. “To go where, amico mio?”
“Well, I have a business meeting that my dad wants me to go to in person, but that should only last a few hours. So I figured, why not take the boys and have some fun after?”
“Again, I ask where, Sully?”
“Houston.” He presses his lips together to hide his amusement.
I, on the other hand, am not amused. Dryly, I question, “As in Texas?”
Hopping up from his spot on the couch, he jumps forward, slapping his hand against my mahogany desk. “Go pack your boots, cowboy! We’re heading to Texas as soon as Enzo gets here. The jet’s being gassed up as we speak, and Stephen’s waiting with the limo out front.”’
“I’m not going,” I state simply, returning to the website I was looking at prior to Sully’s travel ambush.
“C’mon, Sly, I knew you’d oppose. Just come with us. It’soneday.”
“I have patients.”
“Not until tomorrow afternoon, you said it yourself. I’ll have you back in plenty of time—we’ll come back in the morning.”
While clicking on a particularly beautiful bouquet arrangement, I ask him, “Why am I just now hearing of this? Enzo was clued in, but I was not.”
Reading the description of the flowers, I note it does, in fact, include sunflowers, roses, and snapdragon, which are just a few of the varieties the greenhouse had. According to their website, same day delivery is an option, as is one-hour delivery.
Perfect.
“Because I knew you’d say no. So we gave you no choice,” Sully says smugly, pulling my attention briefly back to him.
He’s correct. But in my defense, since returning to the States, I’ve had to work to build my business, in secret, from the ground up, whereas Sully stepped right into his role at his father’s company.
After making him wait in silence while finalizing my purchase, I power down my computer and stand. Apparently, I need to pack.
“I will go on one condition,” I tell him as I round my desk, heading for the door.
“Name it.”
“Give me two hours. I have some business to attend to before I’m able to leave.”
“Done,” he agrees eagerly, and I hear him already on the phone. “Michael—hey. There’s been a delay…”
His voice fades as I go to my bedroom to pack, hoping he’ll leave so I won’t have to come up with an excuse as to why I need these next two hours.
The courier went inside Vincenza’s office building five minutes ago, carrying a stunning bouquet that I hope she’ll love. Sticking out of the floral arrangement was a bright white envelope, with a note saying,“Come outside. -S”, hoping she’d read it right away and come out.
