Removing my gun from the holster in the back of my slacks, I punch in the code to the safe concealed in the coat closet. As I set the firearm on the shelf, my phone vibrates.

Securing the safe, I remove my phone and converse with my friends through text message as I continue to my kitchen in search of something to eat.
