The two songs you have each chosen will be sung.

The priest will perform the official ceremony.

The wedding bands will be exchanged with your personal vows.

The groom will go first.

Then you."

He checks the wedding band dangling from a tiny pink bow tied over my heart. “Don’t forget to pull this little string for it to release.”

“I won’t,” I assure him.

"Then you will be pronounced husband and wife.

Your husband will kiss you.

The priest will introduce you.

You will walk down the aisle.

A limousine will be waiting to whisk you off to the Country Club for the reception.”

I hold my hand up for him to stop. “You can review that at the reception.”

He chuckles.

“Bobby,” I tell him, “In case I forget later, I want to thank you for pulling off a flawless fairy tale wedding!”

His eyes tear up as he scolds me, “Don’t you make me cry now! I still have a ton of work to do!” Then he leans forward and pretends to hug me, making us both laugh.

There is a knock on the door. We turn to look at it as if it’s the Grim Reaper. Then he looks at me and says, “Are you ready to become Mrs. d’Artagnan Dugan? I believe it’s showtime!”

I nod with a smile so big it hurts my mouth.

“Yes! Yes, I am!”

Chapter 25

d’Artagnan

There is a knock on the door. “Come in,” I call out.

Father Reynolds sticks his head inside. “How are you doing?”

“Anxious to get this over with.”

“Would you like me to pray with you?”

I smile. “Thanks for the offer, but no, sir. I made peace with the Lord years ago. He and I are tight.”

He nods and says, “I’ll be waiting for you at the alter then.” He closes the door, and I take a deep breath. “Stay Frosty, Dugan,” I tell myself.

Another light rap on the door, but this man doesn’t wait. He opens the door and says, “It’s time. Please follow me.”

I walk out the door, and as we head to the doors that lead into the sanctuary, he asks, “Do you have the wedding ring?”

I smile. “I am prepared.”
