How I’m only wearing a towel.
His thumb grazes my cheek. “Can I be honest?” That growly low voice makes chills break out along my arms.
I nod. “Please.”
“You’re driving me crazy.”
It’s my turn to scowl. For a second, I’d thought he was into me, but clearly that’s not what he meant. “There’s no need to be rude. If you don’t think I’m a good roommate, you should just say that.”
He chuckles again and shakes his head. “Not that kind of crazy, you little nut. This kind.” He backs me up against the wall, and I suck in a breath when he presses his beautiful, hard body against me.
That bulge I’d admired this morning is pointing straight up in his pajama bottoms and is now pressing against my stomach.
Oh! I grab his shoulders and let out a sigh of relief. “Thank God, because I’ve been going out of my mind.” His nose grazes my shoulder, and I moan and bring him closer. “Is this a good idea? I work for you.”
“It’s a terrible idea, but I’m tired of fighting this. I’ve been thinking about you all week. How sweet you look first thing in the morning. How good you are with my daughter. How gorgeous you looked on that date with another fucking man.”
He growls and wraps his arms around me and sucks on my neck. “Were you on a date tonight? Is that why you were out late?”
Breathless, I shake my head. “N-no. I had to work.”
Good thing I’m leaning against the wall because my legs probably won’t hold me up right now.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asks against my temple.
My nails dig into his shoulders. “Yes.”
“We have to be quiet, and we can’t let Hazel know something’s going on between us. You’re leaving soon, and I don’t want her to be disappointed when you go.”
Cue the record scratch.
The euphoric cloud I was surfing on a minute ago lights on fire and crashes to the ground.
Of course he doesn’t want anything permanent or long-term. He just wants to bang.
I look away. Can I do this knowing it ends at the end of the semester? If I walk away now, will I always regret it?
That’s a sobering thought. My ex slept with half of Charming while I sat at home like an obedient girlfriend. This is my chance to experience the passion I never had with Ezra.
I take a deep breath. Do I want a smoking hot affair with the most beautiful man I’ve ever laid eyes on?
Yes.
Will it break my heart when it inevitably ends?
Probably.
Do I care?
Not in this moment.
As I struggle to keep the towel on, I push Nick back and stare up at his handsome face. “I have some rules of my own. If we do this, I’d better be the only woman you’re sleeping with. I don’t share. If I find some girl crawling all over you, we’ll be over right then and there. And I’m not cool with you flirting with other girls. We might not be in any kind of formal relationship, but I won’t put myself at risk with someone who only thinks with his dick. Been there, done that, and I’d rather work out my frustrations with my vibrator than go there again. Do you agree to those terms?”
His eyes go hot. “I like this feisty little version of you.”
“I’m not joking, Nick,” I huff. I’m not sure where this burst of bravado comes from that has me throwing down ultimatums left and right, but I don’t care. “We’re monogamous while we do this. If you decide you’d rather bang some fangirls after a game, you’d better end this first or so help me, I’ll—”
“Yes. Now shut up.” He lifts my chin as he presses me against the wall again. “I had no idea you had such a saucy fucking mouth.”
