“Not that I know of.”

“He just plays the field, right? All casual? Maybe some friends with benefits but no one serious.”

“Right.”

“That’s why I know you’re different.”

“What do you mean?”

She scoops Asher up and puts him in the front of the cart with a toy. “Because Billy tells it like it is. If he just wanted to bone, he’d tell you that. He has no qualms about mincing words. In a way, that’s refreshing because you always know where you stand with him. And I seriously doubt he made any promises to other girls. As I understand it, his paramours always know that he keeps things casual.”

“Paramours?” I chuckle.

She holds her hands over Ash’s ears and whispers, “Fine. Lovers. Fuck buddies. Whatever. The party girls he hangs out with. But you’re different. You’re the only one he dotes on.”

“He dotes on me?”

She rolls her eyes and playfully nudges me. “As if you don’t know.”

“I kind of know, but it’s nice to hear.” We head to the checkout, and I finally come clean. “I told him I was jealous of him and Vicky singing karaoke. And that if he was out hooking up, with her or other people, that I didn’t want to know about it. I one hundred percent blamed it on hormones.”

Her eyes widen. “How’d he take that?”

“He pulled me into his lap and kissed me until I forgot my name and was so horny, I wanted to explode.”

She chokes with a laugh, glances around, and covers Asher’s ears again. “Maybe you should take advantage of the fact you’re already pregnant? Go have wild monkey sex with him. Work off some of that stress. And who could blame you if you end up dating as a result?”

I give my friend a long look. “I feel like I’ve rubbed off on you in the last semester.”

She nods. “You’ve definitely rubbed off. I never would’ve moved in with Jake if it wasn’t for you. And I highly recommend the wild monkey sex.” Her face flames, but she chuckles and squishes me in a hug.

“I’m so happy for you guys.”

“I am too. Please keep your fingers crossed for Jake. He’s meeting with a big agent on Monday. Jake really wants this guy because he’s repped a few single dads for the draft.”

“Well, Jake ain’t so single these days, is he?”

She laughs. “You know what I mean. Someone who’s not with his baby mama.”

Jake’s baby mama, Charlotte’s psycho older sister, is a total nut job. I’m glad he got away from that woman. “I know what you mean.” I hold up my crossed fingers. “Jake’s going to lock down that agent. He had a killer season, and everyone raves about what a hard worker he is.”

Charlotte beams a proud smile. “I’ve been a nervous wreck. But enough about me. When are you going to let me take photos of you and your baby bump?”

I rub my belly and smile. There’s no bump. Not yet. And even though I’m terrified, I’m also excited. “I want to wait until I’m showing more, but I would love to take pics.”

And before I book a pregnancy photo sesh, I should probably tell my parents first.

The thought of that makes my stomach drop.

BILLY

When Roxy explainedshe wanted to think about us dating, I figured she needed a day or two, but she said she wanted us to take a full week to really consider things.

I just hope she’s not bailing.

That would suck. I don’t know how she can deny our chemistry. It’s off the damn charts. I’ve been living off of our short make-out session in my car before her doctor appointment, but I’d really like to see her. Maybe take her to lunch or buy her some decaffeinated coffee.
