“Sebastian! No!” Maybe I’m dumb for defending Olly, but I don’t see how he could tell me he loves me and then bang other women under my nose.

Although he only said it that one time, right after he found out about the snake.

“What the fuck, asshole!” Olly’s on the ground, holding his eye, and my brother reaches down and hauls his other arm back like he’s going to hit him again.

“Stop!” Without thinking, I grab that arm, and my brother slings me forward as he tries to punch Olly. I topple forward and land on my hands and knees.

Pain ratchets up my body and settles in my belly. Gasping, I hang my head and try to catch my breath.

The guys are yelling at each other, and someone reaches for me, and I push him. “Don’t touch me.” I don’t know if it’s my brother or Olly, but I’m not ready to move.

The babies.

Collapsing on the ground, I roll to my side, hold my stomach, and try to breathe.

Please be okay, babies. Please be okay.

“Maggie, I’m so sorry. Are you all right?” My brother kneels next to me, but Olly shoves him away.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Olly roars before he turns to me. “Baby, are you okay? Talk to me. Tell me you’re okay.”

I’m choking on tears when I’m finally able to spit out the words. “Take me to the hospital.”

OLLY

Magnolia doesn’t say a word on the way to the emergency room. She just holds her stomach, stares out the window, and whimpers.

It’s the scariest fucking sound I’ve ever heard.

What happened to make Sebastian lose his mind? Was it really because Maggie’s pregnant? If it is, I’ve completely misjudged him.

When we get to the hospital, I attempt to follow Maggie, but she holds up her hand. “I can’t right now. I need a few minutes.”

Stupefied, I stand there and watch the nurse wheel her down the white hall.

Maggie doesn’t want me to go with her. That hurts more deeply than I imagined. What happened to us being a team?

Sebastian, that dumb fuck, sits in the corner of the ER waiting room. My vision goes blurry in my right eye from the swelling, and I blink several times. I don’t get it. Sebastian comes to our house, hits me, knocks down Maggie, and has the nerve to scowl at me?

I knew he might be upset about the pregnancy, but he’s gone full-on lunatic.

After two hours, I’m going out of my mind.

Spotting a nurse, I flag her down. “Is there any update on my girlfriend?”

“No, sir. Not yet.”

I don’t know what Sebastian said to Maggie, but it must have been terrible for her not to want me in the hospital room with her. She’s in there by herself, and I’m freaking out, hoping she’s okay.

My best friend is staring at me like this is my fault, and it’s bullshit.

When I’m sure I won’t commit a homicide, I cross the room in a few strides and yank him out of his chair. “What the fuck happened? What did you say to her this morning?”

He sneers. “Just the truth. That you were cheating on her with that redhead and some blonde and probably living a whole other life behind her back.”

His words knock the wind out of me. “What the fuck, Sebastian? When have I ever given you the impression I’m some dirtbag who would treat your sister—or any woman, for that matter—like trash?”
