I waggle my brows. “No, you’re right, but I brought lollipops. Even better.”

June giggles, and the hunt is on.

The gym isn’t far from our building and plenty of our common friends frequent it. Some even work there, and right on cue, June sighs.

“Oh look, Zayne is here,” she chirps, her eyes full of hearts, pointing at someone standing by the coffee machine. She has a soft spot for the older, blond top alpha of Gigi’s pack.

I mean, he’s hot, but I make a point of not looking at taken alphas. And betas. And omegas. Especially if they are in a relationship with one of my friends.

That’s my number one rule.

Semper fi, baby. We don’t touch or even ogle our friends’ pack members, no matter how hot.

Besides, I’m looking for a pack of my own. I’m really into alphas, like a good little omega. They call to me. Masculine sirens, gods of maleness, hulking, muscular, growly bulwarks of men.

And yeah, I’m into men, I admit it freely. No girls for me, though absolutely no judgment. I need that gruff strength, that deep voice, that big cock?—

“Girls!” Ronin, one of Gigi’s alphas, struts toward us. “How is it hanging?”

Speaking of big cocks hanging…

Don’t look! I plaster a smile on my face and force my gaze up to his face. “Hey, Ron. How is Gigi? How is Casey?”

“They’re good. We’re all good. How is Sawyer and company, have you seen them lately?”

“I bet he’s busy.”

Sawyer is the owner of the Book Café, our favorite hangout, and he recently found the pack of his dreams. He’s an amazing guy and we’re all happy for him.

As I am for Ronin. And Bee, and Gigi, and Kaden, and all the guys I’ve met over the past two years, since I moved to the city to get a diploma in fine arts.

It didn’t happen. I dropped out of college quickly and got a job. The truth is, the main goal was to find myself, but that’s another matter.

Ronin runs a hand through his closely-cropped, white-blond hair. “You’re here a lot. Did you decide to join the gym at last?”

“Ha, dream on! We’re here for pleasure, not pain,” we chorus and he laughs.

It’s our usual answer, our line.

“Pain can feel good if done right.” He winks. “Well, gotta run, girls. My pack is waiting.”

“Aw,” June sighs as he turns to go. “He’s dreamy.”

He sure is, but see rule number one about not ogling my friends’ pack mates. Ronin is a fine alpha, but there are more fish in the sea and I intend to catch a couple.

Speaking of alphas… Zayne has spotted us and makes his way toward us.

“What are you girls doing here? Have you decided to join the ranks of healthy adults?”

“We’re here for pleasure, not pain,” we chorus again and giggle maniacally.

“If by healthy you mean sweating like pigs in the mud, rolling about on filthy mats and then crawling home to fall dead into bed…” I shake my head. “No gracias, ya comi.”

June frowns. “Doesn’t that mean… No thanks, I already ate?”
