She rolls her eyes and sips from the glass in her hand, her voice lowered to a whisper. “Don’t be so dramatic. Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t have fun.”
Jordan’s gaze moves to her date, who flags her down. She gives him a quick wave and holds up her finger to indicate she needs another minute.
She squeezes my shoulder. “If you need anything, you have me and your sorority sisters. And the blond Adonis.” Jordan laughs as she glances at the front door, a smile tugging at her mouth. “Speaking of him… look who’s here.”
I follow her line of sight. Trent is dressed in black slacks and a red dress shirt that matches my dress. My heart flutters at the sight of him. He walks into the living room with Jamie. Shannon latches onto Jamie’s arm the second she spots him.
“Hey.” Trent bends down to kiss my cheek and hooks his arm around me. “You look beautiful, Jem.”
I lean into his touch and smile up at him. “Thanks. You don’t look too bad yourself.”
He smirks. “I always look good.”
I shake my head. “You’re so cocky.”
He slips his fingers between mine, his touch sending a brush of heat along my skin that skates up and down my arm.
I nod at the people dancing around us to a slow song. “Wanna dance?”
Trent sweeps a strand of hair out of my eyes. “I talked to my dad earlier.”
“What did he say?”
“He wants us to move into the house until we figure out what we’re doing.” Trent spins me around, light on his feet. “I love you, Jemma. I want to be here for you and the baby. I have no idea what I’m doing, but I will learn. And with my parents helping us, it will be easier. You can finish school, and I can still play hockey.”
I rub my thumb along his cheek. “I love you. And I’m glad we’re doing this together.”
He smiles. “Me, too.”
Trent lifts my feet off the floor and whisks me around the dance floor like I weigh nothing. I rest my head against his chest, drinking in his musky scent. He makes me feel like the only girl in the world. The only girl in his world.
The first few weeks of March pass by in a blur of baby plans, hockey games, and tons of schoolwork. Trent leans back against the headboard and moves me between his spread thighs. He rubs his hand over my baby bump, making circular motions as he kisses my head.
I flip the pages, and Trent leans over my shoulder to read. Most nights, we lay in his bed and learn what to expect when the baby comes. All of the information overwhelms me. I want to cry the more I think about pushing a baby out of my vagina. But women have been doing it since forever, so I know I can handle it. The fear of the unknown scares me.
“We need a book about twins.” Trent sighs. “How the hell did my parents do it? Tucker and I were such a handful.”
We went to our five-month checkup earlier and discovered we were having twins. A boy and a girl. Both babies are healthy, which was my number one concern. But now, we have to plan for two babies.
“You’re still a handful,” I joke. “And don’t even get me started on your brother.”
“Hey, Tuck’s doing better now.”
“Yeah, I guess. I never thought your brother would stop partying and settle down.”
I close the book and set it on the bed beside me. Trent’s hand slides up my stomach and covers my breast. Before I got pregnant, I wore a D cup. Now, I’m a full size larger and have to wear spandex bras that don’t help much. My body is growing so fast, my skin stretching with the babies.
“I love your tits,” Trent whispers as he rolls his thumb over my sore nipple.
I hiss in response.
He nibbles on my earlobe. “Still hurts?”
“They’re sensitive now.”
“Want me to kiss them better?”
“Yes,” I whisper.
