“Did you guys have to do it hunger games style while you were hunting these fuckers down though?” Snake asked, shivering. “I still have fucking nightmares from that damn movie.”
“Seriously? You have nightmares from the hunger games movies?” Cortez coughed, trying to hide her laughter.
“Yeah, that shit was scary. Ya know, where they die and then a cannon shoots off into the air. Like ‘pew pew’ your dead bitch and then ‘boom’ let’s announce that shit to the rest of the contestants, so they know they are next.”
“Please tell me ye are fucking kidding with that shite?” Highlander glared at his teammate, narrowing his eyes.
“Will everyone fucking shut the hell up! We still have our guns trained on you mother fuckers!” Jake screamed at everyone.
“Well…God I hate the fact we’ve had to say that word so much while we’ve been standing here. I mean…seriously!” Diesel shrugged again, her weapon waiving around at the three men with rifles. “Anywho, you have your weapons on three of us, but before you even hurt one of us, we’ve got Reaper Jr who has her fifty caliber Barrett sniper rifle aimed at either your head or your crotch. Depends on where you see that itty bitty red dot.”
“Let’s not forget, you dumb fucks beat and threatened her husband, scared the hell out of her two boys, hurt her youngest son, put duct tape on the youngest one’s mouth. You know how much that shit hurts getting it off?” York counted each infraction against the men off on her fingers.
“Yep” Cortez rocked back and forth on the heels of her feet, popping her ‘p’. “So, I’d recommend just handing in your guns, walking down the mountain peacefully and letting the nice Sheriff take you boys to the local jail while they figure out what to do with you, assholes. Granted, David here is gonna be under federal custody before morning since he’s still squid property and all.”
Chapter 12
Once everyone madeit back down the mountain, the local police department took custody of the three Jones men. Before they could walk away from the group, Highlander walked up to David.
“Why?” Highlander asked David, trying hard to understand the kid’s actions.
David looked at Highlander in confusion. “Why what?”
“Ye were a damn good SEAL. Still wet behind the ears, but ye had a lot of promise. Why would ye throw it all away to peddle flesh?”
“Why not? SEALs aren’t appreciated for the shit we do for our country. We go into foreign countries, take out the trash, and for what? We come home, can’t talk to our families about the shit we’ve done, seen or dealt with. We see men, who are scums of the earth, kidnapping young girls, women, hell even their own fucking mothers, making money out the ass. We take out one demented fucker, fifteen more take his place. We don’t get paid jack for the nightmares we suffer for the rest of our lives, while those fuckers sleep like babies with their money falling out of their wallets.
“SEALs, Delta’s, Recons, hell, even your fucking wife’s team are fighting a losing battle when it comes to human trafficking. So, again, MacLeod, why the fuck not? If it wasn’t for Frankie’s insane desire to make you pay for the fact we got booted off the teams, we could have literally left town, hidden away for a few years and made millions of dollars, stayed off the grid as the government trained us to do, you fuckers would have been none the wiser.”
“You’re wrong you know?” Laura told David, joining in the conversation.
“How the fuck do you figure that?” David sneered at Laura.
“Yeah, you’re right about the fact that we take one out, fifteen more show up. But you’re wrong about the fact there’s no reason to continue the fight. There will always be a reason to keep up the fight. When we rescue a human trafficking victim, get her or him off the drugs you got them hooked on, when they defeat their demons that you sons-of-bitches push on them, we’ve technically won. When they become productive members to society, can laugh, can smile, can finally sleep knowing that they are safe at night once again, we’ve won. We’ll never stop fighting.”
“More will take our place.” David reminded Laura, smirking at her.
“Yeah, they will. We’ll be waiting for them. We’ll take them down, just like we took you, your brothers and your pops down. You three might wanna p.c. up when you get into jail. Other inmates find out you’re in jail for peddling little girl flesh or harmed a child, Bubba’s gonna make you bitch boy!” Laura informed David as she walked away, nodding at her husband.
“Ye might want to go into protective custody like my wife recommended, Jones. Regular jail or prison is hard enough. I have a feeling ye will wind up in Levenworth since ye are a SEAL. Any of those men find out what ye did, ye won’t make it a month in there.” Highlander advised the former SEAL before he walked away to join his wife.
“Fuck you. Fuck all of you.” David yelled at their retreating backs as the deputy dragged him away to put him in the back of the police car.
Highlander caught up with his wife and the rest of the group on the back patio. Pulling Laura out of her seat, he sat down, pulling her into his lap, holding her tight while the boys sat on the ground near their parent’s feet quietly.
“How did ye know what was going on?” Highlander asked his wife in front of the whole group.
“Casanova called us. Both the Jones brothers made a move on Speedy and Doc before they left San Diego. They cut the break lines on Speedy’s car while he and doc were at the beach. Speedy and Doc were headed home when they realized they couldn’t stop the car, Speedy wrecked it on purpose to save lives.”
“Son of a bitch!” Joker jumped up, headed towards the house to get his cell.
“Sit down snot boy! They are fine!” Diesel ribbed Joker. “We talked to both of them before we came to your rescue.”
“They are ok?” Highlander asked Laura, looking into her eyes.
“Yes, sore as hell, but they are fine. I spoke with Doc’s wife, Karen. They were treated and released the same day with orders to take it easy for the rest of the week. They are on vacation the same length of time you guys are, so no biggie there.”
“So Kas called you guys? Why not us?” Mac questioned, confused about the situation.
