Everyone looked at each other in shock and disbelief. Pratt couldn’t believe her ears and stumbled back. She became worried when her husband walked out of the room, slamming the door to the room making the women jump.
“So, you willingly went with the man who had you kidnapped, sold your best friend to a human trafficking group that caters to serial killers?” Diesel asked sarcastically, upset at Dakota’s statement.
“What? No! I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Dakota cried out, shaking as she stepped back away from an angry Diesel.
“Your mother sold you to that asshat! She had you kidnapped, kidnapped Tina along with you. She sold Tina to a human trafficking ring that sold her to a serial killer.”
“Tina? Is she ok?” Dakota asked quickly, clearly upset at the news.
“Yes, she’s alive and well. We barely managed to get to her in time.” Pratt softly said, looking Dakota in the eyes. “She’s never given up on you and calls us every week for an update on your search.”
“Tell her I’m okay. I’m married and taken care of.”
The door to the interrogation room opened and out walked Jackson and his attorney. Dakota dutifully walked up to Jackson and wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. Jackson grinned evilly at Pratt as he wrapped his arms around Dakota and kissed her head.
“Hello Madanm. Thank you for taking care of me. Are you ready to go?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Good girl. Let’s go!”
As they walked past everyone towards the door, Jackson smirked at Pratt. Ignoring the other women, he kept his arms tightly around Dakota, stopping short when Carter and Highlander walked into the room with Eddie and Sheila standing behind them.
Dakota gasped, as she startled in Jackson’s arms, looking up at him in fear. Looking back at Eddie and Sheila, Dakota looked almost hopeful, yet didn’t make a move towards them.
“It’s okay, my pet, you can go say hello.” Jackson whispered into Dakota’s hair.
As Dakota shuffled towards Eddie and Sheila, almost zombie like, Tina came out from behind her parents, tears streaming down her eyes. Dakota stopped her movements, staring at Tina wide-eyed.
Tina walked towards Dakota, engulfing her in her arms, holding Dakota tight, sobbing as she held her best friend in her arms. Eddie and Sheila came up behind the two girls, engulfing them in their arms, joining in the crying fest.
When the three let go of Dakota, she just stood there, meekly, staring at the floor. Jackson walked up to Dakota and placed a hand on her shoulder, causing Dakota to jump slightly.
“Dakota, come home with us. You don’t need to go with him. We can keep you safe!” Tina pleaded with Dakota.
“He’s my husband. I belong to him.” Dakota smiled weakly before turning away from them and walked away.
Jackson turned towards Pratt with an evil grin on his face. “If only you’d had learned to be as obedient of a wife as she has, who knows what joys you would have gained.”
“Trust me asshat, I gained no joy being married to your brother. The man I’m married to now, arealman, he brings me more joy than you, your father, your brother and every other man on this planet could ever dream of giving their partner. You’ll never be half the man my husband is.”
Jackson laughed as he looked at Highlander. “You really should learn to discipline your wife.”
As Highlander took a step towards Jackson, the women stood in front of him to block his path.
Jackson walked out of the station with Dakota in his arms. Dakota look back towards the group briefly before walking out of the door with Jackson.
“Laura, I don’t know who that girl is, but that was not our Dakota. That girl was a shell of the girl we knew.” Eddie fumed, pointing towards the door.
“She’s been through a traumatic experience Eddie. It takes them time to get out of the zombie zone…”
“Don’t give me that bullshit. You know as well as I do that girl is terrified of him. What are you and your team going to do about it?” Eddie yelled at Pratt before backing away as Highlander came towards them. “Shit! I’m sorry.” Eddie ran his fingers through his military cut hair as he stumbled backwards.
“Hey,” Pratt said as she walked up to Eddie and put her hand on his arm. “I get it. I know that wasn’t her. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do since she claimed that was her husband.”
“I’m stumped though, why would she do that? She knew we could have helped her.”
Pratt looked over at York, staring for a few moments past her at the wall behind her. “Fuck! Find the attorney, get his ass back in in the interrogation room, now!”
