“Mom is calling them now. She’s scared of how they will react!” Shane whispered nervously. “Honestly, I am too.”
“Don’t be. They will rally the wives to be there for Sheila while they search every nook and cranny. Do me a favor will you?” Pratt asked, hearing the worry and nerves in her younger sister’s voice.
“Anything, if it will help find the two girls, I’ll do it.” Shane answered right away.
“Get a list of friends they hang out with and/or talk to on a regular, both male and female. Find out what you can about the school and classes. We need it all sis.” Pratt told Shane.
“Got it. I know a lot of it, but what I don’t know, I’ll get from Sheila, Eddie and Pattrick.” Shane rushed out, writing everything down.
“Has anyone contacted Dakota’s parents?” Captain Katherine Irby asked Pratt, for Shane to hear.
“Not yet. Sheila is waiting for Eddie to get here before she does.” Shane admitted to everyone after Pratt put the phone on speaker phone.
“Why is that? Are they a problem or something?” Pratt asked, looking over at her team, with a brow quirked in concern.
“Problem, no, dramatic, very much so. The mother is one of those types who loves a scene. She’s a bitch to Sheila, yet she fawns all over Eddie or Pattrick. Yet, neither man can stand her, but they put up with the shit because of Dakota.” Shane seethed.
“Where’s the dad?” Lindsey ‘Ice’ Raso asked Shane, wondering about the dad.
“Dakota’s biological father was killed in action eight years ago. He was on Eddie’s team when he died. The mother remarried to another team guy that serves on a different team. From what the guys, and Dakota have said, the mom has been cheating on him and he does the same to her. Dakota stays with Sheila and Eddie as much as she can.”
“She doesn’t get along with the step-dad?” Cheryl Diesel asked Shane.
“Dakota doesn’t get along with either one. She and the mom argue constantly, and the step-dad is a major asshole.” Shane answered. “From what I know personally, Tina never stays the night at Dakota’s place. She doesn’t like going over there because of the two of them. Dakota even calls Sheila ‘mom’ and Eddie ‘dad’. Dakota calls her mother by her first name.”
“Okay, Taz, start a search into the mother and step-father. Shane, if Eddie or Sheila have not notified the mother yet, tell them to hold off. I want my officers to do so. York, you and Rameriez handle the mother. The rest of you, get to the mall in case she’s been notified.” Captain Irby ordered Alpha Squad.
“Yes ma’am.” The team said in union.
“Shane, if she shows up before my team gets there, call me ASAP. I want my team to deal with the mother and step-father.” Captain Irby finished.
“Yes ma’am. The stepfather is a SEAL, so he will be an arrogant ass. Eddie, Pattrick, and Wolf’s team may jump in to deal with him. He gives SEALs a bad name.” Shane advised the team.
“If he says shit to Red, he better pray Highlander isn’t there to hand him his ass.” Kaitlyne Rameriez said with a shit eating grin.
“Forget Joe kicking his ass, I’ll bash his fucking head in first if he decides to show his ass over this.” Pratt said, grabbing the keys from her desk. “Shane, the team and I are on the way. Stop Sheila from notifying the mother so York and Ramz can deal with her.” Pratt hung up the phone and headed out the door with her team behind her.
Chapter 3
Twenty minutes after Shane’s call to Alpha Squad, Pratt and the rest of the squad showed up at the mall, searching for Shane and Sheila. Heading towards the food court, the team looked around them to see the state of everything, taking note what needed to be done before they continued the search for the girls.
“Laura, thank you for coming. Shane said your team was handling the notification to Dakota’s mother?” Eddie asked, as he shook hands with Pratt and the others on the team.
“Yes sir. Captain felt it was better if it came from us in case she became an issue about the news.” Pratt told Eddie as Wolf, Dude, Pattrick, and Highlander walked up to the group.
“Well, be prepared when she shows up. She’s drama queen central. Everything will be Sheila’s fault, and she’ll expect us men to comfort her and cause a scene to get attention.” Pattrick said, rolling his eyes, causing the men to laugh.
“Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you boys are busy as hell and we’ll sic Diesel on her ass if she starts.” Raso said with an evil smirk on her face, looking over at Pratt who had an evil grin on her face as well.
“Oh lord, these two have me a little scared now.” Cookie said, looking between the two women, laughing. “Highlander, you may want to watch your wife when Candy shows up.”
“Seriously? Candy? What is she a stripper?” Diesel asked, nonchalantly.
The men all laughed then coughed as they noticed York and Rameriez walking into the food court with Dakota’s mother and stepfather in tow. Pratt looked over at her two teammates who rolled their eyes and shook their heads at the team. Sgt. Kelley Brocard stepped forward, in front of the men as the mother made a beeline for the men.
“Ma’am, I’m Sgt. Brocard with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Task Force…”
“Yeah, whatever. Eddie, what the hell is going on? These two bitches show up at my work to inform me my daughter is missing. You need to teach your wife to pay better attention to my daughter!”
