“I don’t have a problem with it. I can call Carolina and let her know that this person is coming or even escort her over there. Do you think it would help?” Wolf asked, knowing everyone was thinking the same thing.

“It’s a long shot but I want to have our ducks in a row. If this woman is as rich as some are thinking, she’s able to hire a damn good lawyer, I don’t want to leave anything to chance.”

“The Captain is right Wolf. I’ll call Sheila, you call Caroline and we’ll get the ball rolling on that end.” Eddie said, nodding at Captain Irby. “I appreciate you guys, all of you, for everything you’re doing to find these two girls. It means more than you know.”

“It’s not a problem. You’re family to us. Shane is Pratt’s sister, and because of that, by extension, you have become family to us too. We always have family’s back. Any person we rescue from human sex trafficking, they become our family too. So my girls become the rottweilers they are accused of being and go balls to the walls for them.” Captain Irby said, with pride in her voice.

Eddie and Wolf made their calls and got everything ready to go for the sketch artist to go to the house and help Sheila remember the woman that bumped into her. Eddie decided that he would be the one to help escort the sketch artist to Wolf and Caroline’s place. Everyone else started going over files, maps and looking at data that could be found for underground bunkers around San Diego and surrounding cities nearby.

Chapter 8

Dominick, Pratt and Sgt. Brocard made their way to downtown San Diego where Shannon Dwyer’s company was. Walking into the large office building, Pratt walked up to the receptionist desk and waited for the woman to notice them. After several moments, the busty blonde looked up from her screen, tapped her ear and huffed a heavy sigh.

“Can I help you?” The woman said snottily.

Sgt. Brocard and Pratt looked at each other and smirked as Dominick walked up by his sister and spoke to the woman. Yes, these two ladies are Sgt. Brocard and Detective Pratt from the Riverton County Sheriff’s Department and I’m Officer Pratt with the San Diego Police Department.”

“Yeah ok, and? That doesn’t tell me what you need.” The blonde returned, rolling her eyes as she popped her gum.

“Well, clearly Christian Grey liked when he talked about the educated women that are hired for multi-million-dollar companies as eye candies and guard dogs for the front door. This one is more like a lap dog instead.” Pratt muttered to Brocard, shaking her head.

“Would this guy really hire an air head for the front door?” Brocard murmured back, looking at Pratt from the side.

“Well, he did date my sister for a short time, so I guess I couldn’t put it past him to hire the ding bat for the front door.” Pratt replied to her Sgt as she shrugged.

“Excuse me?” The blonde screeched at Pratt.

“Nothing to concern yourself with. Now, will you kindly, as my brother asked you to do, inform Shannon Dwyer that Laura and Dominick Pratt, and Sgt. Helen Brocard are here to speak with him. No, we don’t have an appointment, but, this is regarding a police matter and Shannon is who we need to speak with.” Pratt said, smiling sweetly, ignoring the glare the receptionist was giving him.

“I’m sorry, he’s in a business meeting and doesn’t have time to speak with you today.” The blonde replied without even picking up the phone, smirking.

“Well, we can do this, one of three ways. First, you can get on your little device or pick up the phone, either one works, and inform mister Dwyer that we are here and need to speak to him. Second, we can get a warrant and then come in here with multiple officers, causing a nasty scene, wonder what that would do for the image this business as with customers? Last, but not least, we can let it slip to the media that Mr. Dwyer is a potential witness slash suspect in an ongoing investigation into human sex trafficking ring.” Brocard informed the blonde receptionist with a no holds barred attitude as she looked around the lobby.

“You won’t get the warrant because there’s nothing we’ve done that’s illegal and we can sue you for slander if you go to the media.” The blonde smirking more, looking down at her nails.

“Maybe so, but the damage will have already been done, won’t it? Now, do your job and get Mr. Dwyer on the phone and inform him that we are here to see him.”

With a huff, the blonde picked up her phone and informed her boss that there were some rude officers in the lobby demanding to see him. Informing the trio to take a seat, she went back to work, ignoring them. Thirty minutes later, a tall, dark haired, well built man in a dark suit walked into the lobby looking towards them.

“I’m Shannon Dwyer, may I ask what this nonsense is concerning? I really do have a busy schedule.”

“Mr. Dwyer, I’m Sgt. Helen Brocard, this is Detective Laura Pratt and Officer Dominick Pratt. We need to speak with you on an important matter. I’m sorry we had to strong arm your receptionist like we did, but, well, she’s not very bright, or very friendly and right now we honestly don’t have time to kiss her ass to see you.”

“Pratt? Why is that name familiar to me?” Dwyer asked, curiously as he looked between brother and sister.

Dominick coughed before he answered. “You actually dated our dipshit of a sister, Maria.”

“Ah yes, I remember her. She really wasn’t fond of you two, working lowly jobs as she put it. But then again, she was a money-grubbing whore who only went after men with money. Always did make me wonder why she dated me when I was first starting out.” Dwyer said, laughing at the memory.

“We wondered the same thing about you two. You seemed like a good guy who was busting his ass to make something of himself. Never could understand what you were doing with someone like her when you could have someone so much better, and prettier.” Dominick said, shaking his head as he shook hands with Dwyer.

“Well, I can see why she didn’t like you two, you’re actually smarter than she is. More manners than she has, that’s for sure. Tell me, how is Maria these days? Has she found a man to steal from yet?”

“Who knows with her. She actually disappeared a few years ago. Haven’t seen her since. You pretty much escaped a nightmare being involved with her. I can honestly say she’d be kicking her own ass right now if she knew how successful you’ve become.” Pratt said with a chuckle.

“Thank you! Now, how can I help you?”

“We need to understand more about underground bunkers. How they are built, the abilities, depth, pretty much everything.” Brocard answered,
