Dallas tried to stand her ground, but Kasim saw right through the tough girl bullshit. Granted she was from the hood, but he was no fool. Dallas was a good girl fucking with the wrong nigga. She was forced to be in the hood, and if it was her choice, he'd bet his life she'd go far the fuck away.

"Goodnight, Dallas." Kasim walked over to his bed and began undressing.

Dallas watched him turned on but she wouldn't fold. Kasim knew she was secretly lusting over him because he saw the way her body trembled from just watching him fuck life into Juanita. He was no fool; she was captivated. A bit jealous but turned on by the desire of fucking the beast-like man.

Kasim was no stranger to sexually satisfying a woman's body. He'd fuck them mentally and make them cumm just as he had done Dallas. He knew if wanted to he could have made her join in on the festivities, but for the first time, he found a sense of respect for a woman. He wasn't gonna dog her pussy out like he did the countless contestant winners.

In fact, he didn't wanna fuck her. If it was up to him, she'd go scott-free and back to her nigga. He liked a challenge, and Dallas was no competitor. She wouldn't stand a chance on a one on one with Kasim even if her life depended on it.

NORAH

"Where my friend, nigga?"

Norah stormed into the home Dallas shared with Big Boy. He looked at her suspiciously because for two days Dallas had been missing, and he knew if anyone knew, it was Norah. He watched her put on a performance, coming into his crib screaming and searching closets. He didn't say a word because he was no fool. When she stormed back into the living room, he took a hit from his blunt and looked at her like she had lost her fucking mind.

"You ain't gotta fake for that bitch. A nigga ain't dumb."

"The fuck you talking about? It's been two days. She's not answering her phone or texting me back. We both know even if she mad at yo’ simple ass, she gon’ text me back."

"Well, text the bitch and tell her I said she could come get her shit."

"I swear you one dumb mothafucka. I'll be back by this bitch, and if I find out you did something to my friend, just watch what happens to you."

"I ain't did shit to her yet. But you watch when she come in this mothafucka what I do to her. Both eyes black." Big Boy took his original seat.

He didn't have time for the bullshit they were pulling. He was gonna wait for Dallas patiently, and when she walked through the door, he was gonna put his foot right up her ass.

One thing Boy Boy had never done was hit Dallas. He had never even disrespected her by calling her out her name, but because he was suspicious, he didn't give a fuck. It even let Norah know he was upset because she knew Big Boy never disrespected her best friend. However, she was busy lost in her own assumptions. These days, niggas killed their women and even offed themselves. She prayed that wasn't the case, but what the fuck was going on?

Norah didn't bother mentioning the winnings, the casino, or anything in that nature. She remembered Dallas saying she didn't mention anything to Big Boy. Instead, she left and jumped into her ride.

She watched the house momentarily, trying hard to wrap her head around where her friend could be. The only thing she could think of was going by the Kinglys and asking if they had seen her. A part of her was horrified because she couldhear Mama's voice. There was something strange about Mama's words, not to mention, the facility when they had visited.

Everyone was just too damn weird—drunk or like zombies. The people in the night club were the ones who seemed a bit normal, but they too were drunk and just enjoying the New Year. The entire aura was just off, which gave Norah this strange feeling.

Norah pulled off from Dallas's home determined to find her friend. After another day, she would go to the police because in her state, you had to wait three days before putting out a missing person report.

***

Norah stepped out of the car and frowned at her own fear. She wasn't this scared in the hood. She could feel the weight of Mama's disapproval bearing down on her, but she had to find her friend. She walked up to the metal doors, instead of ringing the bell, she knocked several times. Mama's warning echoed in her mind once more, but she ignored it and continued to knock.

When the door opened, there were two guards. One was very tall and he wore this estranged look. The other one just smiled but Norah could see past the bullshit.

"Look, I'm just looking for my friend. We were here for New Year's and she won some bread."

"Bread?" the one smiling asked.

"Money. She won some money. I haven't seen her since she came to collect it."

"Step inside," the man with the frown insisted, stepping to the side. He knew exactly where her friend could be just by hearing the wordwon. "Follow us this way." The man led Norah along the slots and into a room where she wouldn't be able to disturb the guests.

"Can you go over your cameras or something? I don't know, but I know this was the last place she had come." Norah looked around the room and got an eerie feeling. It was like she could feel her friend's presence.

"I'm sorry, but we can't do that. Did you go to the police?" the other guard asked, and it was something peculiar in his voice when he asked.

"No, no police." Norah sighed.
