She shuddered. “So, your heart wasn’t exactly broken.”
“No, but she was the coolest girl I’ve seen in a while. If she wasn’t all over Scott I probably would have asked her out. Maybe.”
She ran a fingertip around the thick rim of her pottery mug. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“If you referred to a woman asinteresting, what would that mean?”
A look of disgust crossed his face. “I would never call a woman interesting. A woman is hot or not hot. Then single or not single, and so on.”
“So, you’d never call a hot, single womaninteresting.”
“Well, if she was a scientist or something and explained quantum physics in a way I could understand it. That would be interesting.”
“Hah. I knew it,” she exclaimed as though she’d won an argument.
James loved a joke and she felt that he was enjoying one at her expense at this very moment. “So, my detective skills are kind of rusty, but did a hot guy call youinterestingrecently?”
“Yes. One did.”
He shook his head. “Ouch.”
