I took my hand from his, rounded the table, and sat next to Anaki. If Bear didn’t know what he did wrong, he could figure it out.
“I don’t know what I did,” Bear muttered to himself.
“Is he talking to himself?” I nudged Anaki.
Anaki chuckled, sliding a piece of meatloaf onto my plate. He decorated the table with potatoes, a salad, and an extra-large meatloaf, along with bread. “He’s talking to his animal. His animal is trying to tell him what he did wrong. Shifters have their own form of schizophrenia, I guess you could say.”
I huffed and crossed my arms. “Well, I hope his animal can talk some sense into him. Because he really left me hanging,” I mumbled and took a bite of potato.
“I am also here.” Anaki pointed a fork at me. “It wasn’t like Bear was going to carry you off and fuck you into oblivion.” Anaki perked up and looked out the window. “I take that back. He would have done that.” He shook his head. “But he shouldn’t have covered you with his clothes. He should have at least complimented you first.”
“You are mad because I did not compliment you on your clothes?” Bear’s voice was soft, his eyes pleading for me to answer him.
