“Ya’ll need some new decor.”
“For what?” Swiss asks.
“This place. It’s depressing.” I tap away and then set my phone down.
“You going to at least show us what you picked?” Domino says with a side grin.
I shrug and hold my phone out for him and Swiss to see.
They look at each other, then back at me. “We ain’t really cat people. Having Hounds in the name should’ve given that away, babe,” Domino says with a single eyebrow raise.
“Everyone can use a ‘Hang in there’ poster for when times get tough. Especially in a clinic like this, which I’m sure sees more blood than others. Plus, I also got you the one with the cat taking down the great white shark. You know, to prove that cats might look cute, but they’re also deadly in the wild. Just like you all.”
Swiss huffs a laugh and leaves the room with a shake of his head, shutting the door behind him.
Domino cages me in with his arms pressing on either side of the bed I’m sitting up on. “You think we’re cute?”
I smile sweetly. “At least one of you is.” He leans in, and just before his lips touch mine, I speak again. “The one who didn’t blow a hole in my ceiling.”
His head falls low, his lips no longer seeking my kiss, and I chuckle a bit before he backs up. “You ever going to let me live that down?”
I tilt my head and think it over. “Only if you can tell me that the only reason they call you Domino is because of the game and not because of doing things like this.”
He opens his mouth, closes it, opens it again, and then closes it with a shake of his head.
“There you go.”
“I was doing it to save you. You know that, right?”
“And there wasn’t another way to do that?” I ask suspiciously.
“No!” he yells in exasperation, but I don’t believe him.
I’m notreally mad. I mean, he did save me. Sucks that I couldn’t save myself, but sometimes you need a team. I have one with Summer, so I can’t be mad at him for this. Well, I can and can’t all in one. I’m happy to be away from Henry but mad about needing a new work area. I think it’s safe to say the Zen of the place has officially been demolished.
There’s a knock and then the door opens. Mickey pokes his head in and gives me a nod, and I return it with my own chin lift.
“We got something,” he says to Domino before leaving.
Domino stands upright. “Going to go talk to your stalker—”
“Henry.”
He pauses, then nods. “Thanks. Henry. Going to figure out some stuff. Be good while I’m gone.” He pulls me in for a side hug and a kiss on the forehead again. I haven’t gotten his lips yet. Not fully.
“And what if I don’t?” I look up at him from under my eyelashes.
He grabs my chin and leans in close. “I’ve got no problem breaking in that pussy again with my cock right here and right now. Just figured you’d want that shit out of your system first. But say the word and this ass is mine.”
He eliminates the space between us with a hard kiss, and I’m soon moaning from something other than pain. I grab tight to his leather with the hand that isn’t hooked up to my new fluid stick friend. Just like the first time we kissed, we fight for dominance. It’s not a sweet kiss like you see in the movies but one bordering on desperation.
There was a moment there. A single moment when I didn’t know what was going to happen. It was fleeting but lasting all the same. I can tell he had the same feeling from the way his mouth explores mine as if it’s the first time. Or maybe he’s making sure that if it’s the last, he has a memory to go with it. That’s what I’m doing.
I never thought I lived a certain way, but after what happened, I knew I wasn’t living fully. Like every moment could be the last one I have. The last one a loved one has. I don’t plan to keep just… existing. I want each moment to have a spark. To mean something. That if it’s the last, it goes with a bang.
“Don’t mind me,” Swiss says as he enters, interrupting our kiss.
Domino and I rest our foreheads against each other’s to catch our breath.
