No one else was fighting in the study, all eyes either on us, or on Kylan’s body in a puddle of blood. Ward and his team were impressed, while Kylan’s men didn’t know what to do. Their employer and his right-hand man were both gone.
“Who’s still loyal to Kylan?” I called out.
Silence greeted me. Then there was a clatter of weapons as the remaining men dropped them to the ground.
My injury ached as the last of my body knit itself back together, draining more magic than I would have liked. I could have kept fighting, but it was better if I didn’t have to.
Nolan jumped into action, stepping in front of me.
“In that case, everyone, I’m in control of Kylan Jitara’s assets until further notice. We share the same last name, so it’s only fair I take over,” he said, giving everyone a cocky little smirk like the one he’d always given me.
No one questioned him. It didn’t matter if the rest of his family thought he was a disgrace to the Jitara name. It was his name that mattered here.
He rattled off a long list of orders to the remaining men, and they jumped into action to inform everyone else in the mansion of what had happened. When they cleared out, the bodies littering the floor became more obvious. Ward was panting, almost as dishevelled as his brother after the fight. “What do we do then, boss?” Ward asked with a fake salute, directing it to me instead of Nolan.
I pointed at Kylan’s body. “Bring it down into the field. We’re going to burn it.”
I was going to stay and watch Kylan burn, but as Em’s worry and Shan’s anger and Caspian’s hunger grew through the bonds, I knew I had better things to do. This had no longer been about killing Kylan for the satisfaction of it or to show I was capable. Killing him was a means to an end, so I could be with my mates.
When Nolan tried to follow Ward and the rest out of the study, the body in tow, I caught his arm. “We set the fire, but make them watch it. We’re going home.”
Maybe not to a physical home, but to the home of my heart. A place where all my mates could be together.
Softly smiling, Nolan held my arm and led me out of the mansion.

We’d left Ward, Vaughn, and Calloway behind to watch the fire, promising extra pay. They hadn’t really cared either way, appearing satisfied with their night’s work. Kylan’s head had been separated from his body before the flames were lit, as an extra precaution. You could never be too careful.
“You should probably put some wards on that room you’re staying in,” Altair said casually, leaning against the wall just outside the entrance. “I can hear them from here, and it’s not a full house yet.”
“Eavesdropping isn’t a good look for you,” I said.
He shrugged. “If you had hearing as impeccable as mine, you would understand how difficult it is to tune that out. Your hybrid is so needy it’s making me horny.”
I glared at him, stomping past and into the inn. Rowdy cheers were coming from the bar at the back, but I wasn’t interested in celebrating with beer.
I’d be celebrating with dick and cuddles.
Reaching the floor where we were staying, I couldn’t deny that Altair’s suggestion of sound-blocking wards might be a good idea. Caspian was practically sobbing in pleasure, and I imagined he was impaled on Shan’s cock. When I flung open the door, though, it wasn’t quite what was happening.
The room was sparsely decorated, only a skinny mattress, a desk, and a chair for furniture.
Emmett was currently perched on the chair with Caspian riding his cock in his lap, Shan watching from where he was lying on the mattress. At my abrupt entrance all three glanced to me and Caspian gasped, throwing himself from Em’s cock and across the room. He was in my arms a second later, his body noticeably skinnier than when I’d last seen him.
What the fuck had they done to him to have him lose weight over such a short time in captivity?
I shelved my anger in favour of returning his hug. He sobbed on my shoulder, his hard cock pressing against my stomach, and I grazed my teeth across his neck. Tilting his head to the side, he whimpered. “Freya, I need—”
I gave into the temptation before he could beg for it, sinking my little Omega incisors into his skin.
Cas came, trembling, but his body relaxed after getting the mark, his grip on me loosening and becoming languid. I led him back over to Emmett.
“Is he OK?”I asked Emmett mentally, careful to block out everyone else.
“Far from it, but his most pressing need is to feed. He drained Shan nearly dry and it didn’t satiate him. He’ll need both of us. Probably a hit from Ozzy and Nolan, too. You feel weak.”
