He gave her a quick kiss before he rolled out of bed.“But true.”

She growled and tossed a pillow at his retreating form.It bounced off his shoulders and fell to the floor beside the bed.She took a moment to watch his broad shoulders, narrow waist, and perfect, tight ass strut with confidence toward the bathroom.

“I’ll start the water; come and join me when you are ready,” he told her.

Once he was out of sight, Kai glanced toward the closet and was amazed at how often she’d lain just feet away from Aodh’s dragon’s hoard. The place had been spacious and filled her with awe.She looked to the table beside the bed and saw the small pile of little pieces of Aodh’s hearth-stone.She wondered when she could go back and be amongst the stone, feel its energy.

“As often as you like, mate. Now, come bathe with me.”

“Fine.”She got up from the bed and flung the covers, which became bunched at the bottom of the mattress from their morning activities, and then she padded bare to the bathroom.

She had barely crossed the threshold before Aodh had her scooped up into his arms and carried into the spray.

Usually, she didn’t enjoy showers because the water was too cold.At least in a bath, Aodh or Tana could adjust the temperature with a quick flame. However, today, the splash of cool water felt good rolling along her skin. Her flesh felt warmer than most times, and the contrast between it and the water made a soft sizzling sound and caused small ribbons of steam. They felt like fingers caressing her skin.

“Why is this happening?”she gasped, staring down at her body.

“The offspring seems to be changing you.”

She looked up at Aodh, who drew a finger over her shoulder, following a path of steam.“Changing me?Into a dragon?”

“No.Dragon-shifters are born, not created.”He circled her waist and drew her to him.“But you may start to experience different abilities.”

“Like the dragon-link?”

Aodh nodded, his brows creasing as if he was also trying to figure it out.“Take note of anything you feel is different, and we will discuss them together.”His hand slid up her back.“Remember, you are the first human in generations to carry a dragon, Kai.”

She nodded, feeling a little stupefied.

“Take heart, mate.Nothing should harm you.”

“Okay.”She was still trying to work it out mentally and didn’t know what else to say. Before this, she’d only experienced being hungry and sleeping all the time, and she didn’t think she’d undergone any other changes.

She and Aodh bathed and washed each other’s backs before Aodh turned off the water and got them both towels.

He dried quickly and left the bathroom to get dressed.

Once done drying off, she hung up her towel and moved over to the sink to add moisturizer to her hair and finger it into a tamer style.Something caught her eye as she reached for the jar on the tray beside the faucet. She straightened her body and glanced down.

Two.Another scale-like shape sat beside the first on her lower abdomen.

Aodh. While she waited for him, she ran her hand along the curve of her belly. The skin around the second mark was sensitive but didn’t sting like the first.Besides that, she noticed that even though her stomach was not any bigger than her usual pooch, considering all the food she inhaled, it felt firmer when pressed.

“Yes, little flame.”He returned to the bathroom, now dressed in his pants, boots, and vest, fully displaying the markings on his chest. In his hand was a robe for her.

“Look, there’s another.”She faced him and pointed to her lower abdomen.

Aodh didn’t appear shocked in the least.“Of course.I figured after seeing the first appearance, there would be more. With my kind, pregnant Drahkelle gain a new one daily throughout their pregnancy.”

“But I’m not a Drahk.”

“Doesn’t seem to matter.”He handed her the robe, then leaned down and kissed her temple.“Now, come eat.I am sure my offspring is hungry.”

“They’re always hungry.”She put on the robe and followed him out of the bathroom.“At this rate, I will need the landing to exit the suite.”

He chuckled and led the way down the stairs to the dining table filled with food. Her stomach growled loudly at the smell of the food filling the room.

Aodh smiled and arched a brow at her.
