Page 128 of Innocent Intentions

This man is cold. Controlled. Calculated.

If Roman is fire, this one is ice.

I shrink into Matty when his eyes land on me.

“Who are you?” he asks, voice sharp and demanding.

“Dom, this is Margot. My woman.” Matty’s voice turns serious. All of his earlier charm gone.

Dom steps closer, looking skeptical. His eyes rake over me. Unlike his brothers, he has Damien’s near-black eyes. But on him, they don’t look warm. They look cruel.

I press closer to Matty.

Matty stands. Blocking me from Dom.

They’re face to face, glaring at each other.

And thankfully, Roman shows up out of nowhere and pulls them apart.

“Not now,” he says. When he spots me, he winks. “Looking good, Margot. How’re you feeling?”

It would sound sweet, if not for the extra purr in his voice.

Matty decks him. Fist straight to the stomach.

Roman just laughs. Doubled over, clutching his gut.

“It’s too easy. This is going to be so fun.”

“Boys. Cut it out. You don’t act this way in front of ladies.” Their father’s voice booms. All three glance at either me or Evelyn and mutter apologies.

Evelyn shoots them a warning look, then sighs. “Seems like we only got it right with Sebastian.”

She pats Bash's knee and walks out.

Bash throws his brothers a smug grin behind her back. Okay, maybe he’s not as innocent as he looks.

I glance back at the three oldest, hoping the tension has dissipated.

Dom meets my gaze, then flicks his eyes at Matty. “We’ll discuss this later.”

Then he turns to me and flashes a smile.

It transforms him. For a moment, he looks… handsome.

“Nice to meet you, Margot. I look forward to learning more about you.”

Matty’s jaw clenches at his words, and his glare follows Dom as he leaves.

Roman catches my eyes and raises a brow in question. I give him a thumbs up and a forced smile. He nods and returns to teasing the others.

Maybe I misjudged Roman.

After a few more minutes, the brothers head out, leaving just Matty and me in the sitting room.

“So, that’s my family. Roman’s an asshole, but he means well. Dom will cool off. He’s just slow to trust new people. Bash is not as good as Mom thinks, but he’s solid. They’re good guys. You’ll see.”

He leads me towards the dining room.
