And I felt his lips curl against my neck. "I don't obey you," he warned.

Then he nipped. I managed to catch the moan in my throat before it slipped out, but he still heard. He didn't stop, though. No, this man kissed the pinch, then trailed his tongue up my pulse and found my mouth again.

"Tor, I like you," he whispered against my lips.

"Yeah," I breathed, unable to think of anything better.

But Keir pulled back enough to see my face. "Listen," he said softly. "I likeyou. Fuck expectations. Forget about the complications. This? I'd like a lot more of this - if you let me."

"Convince me," I said.

His eyes shifted between both of mine. "Boyfriend? Or is that not allowed?"

"You... Keir, you want to be my boyfriend?"

"No, I want you to be mine." And that impish little smile of his made an appearance. "I mean, it's worth trying, right?"

"I don't have a fucking clue what I'm doing."

"So?"

For some reason, that was exactly the right answer. "Yes," I whispered, leaning in to kiss him again.

Chapter Fifty-Nine

HAWKE

Tor was in a good mood. He hadn't told me why, but when I'd seen him earlier in the day, he said he'd explain it all at lunch. Except for that, my morning had been completely uneventful, so I tried to figure out what would make that guy actually happy.

Wilder had a theory, and it was one I approved of, but I wouldn't set any expectations. Yet when the pair of us headed into the cafeteria, I couldn't help but scan the room, trying to figure out where Torian might be. I spotted Keir at the drink counter, talking to Daivon. Bran, Pascal, and Axel were at their usual table. I was about to look again when Aspen skipped in, grinning like she knew too much.

"Please tell me that smile's for good things?" I asked.

She giggled. "Because bad shit's going to make me smile?"

"If it happens to bad people, it could," Wilder pointed out.

And her lips curled more, ending up in a grin. "I think I want some dessert today." Then she pushed into the line before us and grabbed a tray.

Sure enough, she got pie to go with her flowers. It was peach, which counted as fruit - or so she said. I chose something niceand safe, we picked up our drinks, and then the three of us headed over to the table just as Keir sat down.

"Do you know what Tor's going to say?" I asked him.

Confusion crossed his face. "He has something to say?"

Aspen giggled.

Thankfully, Torian and Rain - who had started walking together from their fourth period class - didn't take long to join us. The first warning they were coming was Jack's appearance. The crow landed on the table, sliding right into me.

"Duke!" he cawed before dipping his head.

"Sorry, Jack," I said as I eased him back. "Feathers good?"

"Jack!" he assured me, ruffling them to prove it.

"No stealing my bird," Rain teased as she sat down.

Aspen turned to watch her brother claim his seat. "Hawke's going crazy over here."
