“She’s fine now,” he said.

Kissing his neck, I buried my face in the crook and snuggled him close.

Serlotminden stayed on my lap until he was sure the bird was done, then he got up and gave me most of it, though he did give Pookie a big chunk. I tried to give him some back, but he refused.

He said, “I like feeding you.”

“I don’t like you losing weight.”

“I like you not being as starved.” He kissed my cheek. “I am fine. I promise.”

I ate, but I did manage to give Serlotminden more. Afterward, he tugged me into the cabin and we curled up together. How was I this happy or content? I sure as hell didn’t deserve it, nor did it make sense. Perhaps I didn’t have to deserve Mindy and maybe it didn’t have to make sense. We just were, and I never wanted that to change.

Chapter 31

Who needs to nap? Not me.

“You need to sleep,” Serlotminden muttered, brushing my cheek with the back of his finger.

I leaned into his feather-light touch that sent tingles racing down my spine.

“Sleep,” he whispered. His hands explored me, and I returned the favor, dragging my fingers over him. I adored the light scritch from the edge of his scales against my skin.

I lingered on his smiling lips. “Are you that happy?”

“I am incredibly happy. I have always desired this and have never found it.”

“This?”

“My mate.”

I shook my head, but I didn’t contradict him. I couldn’t imagine my life without him, even though it had been such a short time. Somehow, someway Serlotminden had become indispensable to me.

My fingertips trailed over his full lips, playing with the golden ring. He nipped at my fingers, and I grinned. He licked one, sucking on the tip before kissing it with a gentle smile. Serlotminden was so beautiful. Before him, I’d never have thought purple scales, wings, and a tail were attractive, but he was the most attractive person I had ever seen. He was as lovely inside as he was outside, and he was mine.

I didn’t deserve him with… everything that had tainted me, but I sure as hell wanted him and I planned on keeping him. I refused to allow my past to separate me from Serlotminden.

I kissed him, forcing his lips apart to delve into his hot mouth. His scaled tongue brushed mine and he moaned. I swallowed his pleasure and pushed him onto his back, straddling him. I yanked my shirt off, and his breath harshened as his cock started to firm beneath me.

“I thought we were going to nap?” he asked.

I scoffed. He’d wanted that.Iwanted him to fuck me within an inch of my life. My mouth returned to his, my hands framing his face. Mindy groaned into me, and I slipped my tongue into his mouth, slowly tangling it around his. His taste, the feel of his scales, the heat of him—it all made me press closer.

I needed more.

Serlotminden pulled back, and I chased his lips. “No.”

“We need to talk.”

I was hard and desperate for him. “Now?”

“We need to discuss permissions.”

“Anything you want is fine,” I grunted, capturing his lips again.

He moaned into me as I attacked him. His arms gathered me close. “Teddy,” he groaned. “Oh, my Mate.”

I slipped my broken glasses off, tucking them somewhere safe before claiming his lips again. I had to have Mindy. Now.
