Jaydon:Except I feel like I do after last night. Did youmake it home?
Peachy: That’s none of your business.
Jaydon: If you don’t tell me if you made it home, I will come looking for you.
Peachy: Fine, don’t need you to look for me… I’m at home.
Jaydon: Where did you put the clothes that I let you borrow?
Peachy: I took them.
I can hear her attitude through her text. I laugh to myself. Payback’s a bitch. I really don’t care that she took them, though. I actually like the idea of her wearing and having my clothes.
Oh, my sweet and feisty Peachy.
Chapter 3
Six months earlier…
Ellie
The day quickly melts into night at Haleigh’s parents’ house. We had a fun day by the pool, drinking Cosmos and laughing so hard my sides hurt. My favorite part might actually have been eating all the yummy food her parents made. Her dad is an amazing chef on the grill. Her parents are literally the sweetest people. They’ve welcomed me into their home more times than I can count, always making me feel like one of their own. Sometimes I think they treat me better than my own family ever has.
I just can’t say the same about their son, Jaydon. He has never treated me very nicely.
He recently got home a few months ago from being deployed and out of state for four years. He certainly grew up during that time.
Damn, he’s sexy as hell. Although, no matter how hard I’ve always tried to ignore him, he has always been fine ashell to me. I’ve always had the biggest crush on him, ever since we were kids—all the way back in middle school.
The only problem is… he’s always been a major asshole to me.
I stare at his hard body as the thoughts run through my buzzing head.
It’s now dark, and the party is getting smaller. Just Haleigh and I, along with her brother and a few of his friends, are gathered around the fire pit. Tiki torches have been lit, and large flames are burning brightly surrounding the pool. Jaydon has taken over playing the music, and it seems all my favorite songs are playing. He switched over to Jack from drinking beer all day long; that seems like a recipe for disaster to me.
Haleigh’s sitting to my left, and we are singing along to the music. Well, she is mostly; I can’t stop the rampant thoughts about her brother that are rolling around in my head.
The Cosmos we’re sipping are hitting me hard. I’m so fucked.
I look over at my bestie, and of course, she’s staring at Ryan. She’s in love with him but doesn’t know it yet. Or maybe she does and hasn’t decided what to do yet, I don’t fucking know.
She’s engaged to an asshole, but Ryan’s the perfect guy for her—and she knows it.
“Hales, this night has been so much fun!” I say, pushing up and trying to get out of the lounge chair.
But as I stand, the ground starts spinning.
“So much fun, girl!” She laughs at me as I start to stumble.
I start dancing to a song Jaydon has blaring from the speakers. He’s up adjusting the speakers placed around the pool. Haleigh’s laughing her ass off at my crazy dancing. I drop low, then pop back up and bend, shaking my ass in the air, putting on a show.
Haleigh needs to get her ass up and dance with me, so I slowly back it up on her and start giving her a lap dance. She’s smacking my ass, giggling, as I’m grinding on her. I hear catcalls from the other guys sitting around, and I’m playing into it.
Jaydon walks by, eyeing us, shaking his head like he’s above it, then sits down on the other side of the fire pit.
Haleigh grabs my shoulders and pulls me back, still laughing. “Go over and give Jay a lap dance.” she whispers in my ear, nodding towards him.
I feel wicked, he’s going to hate this, but I don’t give a fuck.
