My greater mass narrowed the gap. Until my half-transformed arms reached out to grab an ankle—

I yanked, pulling her up beneath me, wrapping my arms and legs around her sleek form and pinning her against me. But although the beast was in control, I wasn’t yet a Dragon. I spread my wings, grimacing as they cupped the air, threatening to snap backward against the onslaught. I could fly as a human, but not carry another. And I was fast at transforming, but not fast enough.

The muscles along my back and chest shrieked in protest as I beat my wings against the rushing air, once, twice, three times... Enough not to stop us, but to redirect, to carry us out from the falls, away from the deadly rocks. Our feet dipped into the pond before I could lift us just enough to take us to the shore.

The landing wasn’t pretty, but I managed to not crush her. I laid her on the gravel, and she rolled over to look up at me.

I shook all over. But not with fear.

As she blinked up at me, my beast drank her in. Her soft, naked skin lying beneath me. The water pearling over her breasts. I burned with lust, and struggled to stop my beast from taking her right then and there. Half-shifted as I was, she would not survive it.

She met my eyes. And then she lifted her chin and turned her head away.

Offering me her throat.

The white noise in my head flooded through me. Desperate, I fought to shift my body to human. And won, just barely, with everything except the wings that arched over us. But although I was mostly human, it was my beast that lowered itself over her, and shoved its nose against her neck.

She opened her legs and wrapped them around me. Pressed her liquid heat against my own.

With a shudder and a groan, I sank into her. Mymate. The word took on a new meaning as she stretched for me, welcoming me home. Tightening, squeezing in rhythm to my thrusts.

Driving me wild.

I forgot everything except her. Her softness. Her heat. The little moans she made. Her scent, as I nibbled against her neck. My balls pulled up tight, ratcheting me to a height I’d no longer thought possible. I couldn’t stop my beast, and now, I didn’t want to. We both wanted to claim our mate.

When that silken channel tightened around me, I sank my teeth into her shoulder.

Her scream as we erupted was truly worthy of a Dragon, echoing through the boulders as wave after wave coursed through us. We trembled in the throes of ecstasy, with my teeth still buried until she reached to spread a hand alongside my face.

And gave back to me what she’d taken.

Only it was much, much more than that. It extended from her to me. It reached to Matt, and for another that we couldn’t touch. A powerful flow of energy that bridged between us, surging through every fiber. I felt as though I were soaring without wings. I sprang rigid once again within her, and exploded a second time.

I lost track of time as we lay there, locked together as the sensations abated. Her legs slipped from my waist, and I withdrew my teeth, licking a wound that sealed almost instantly. I lay down beside her and pulled her into me.

I could have laid there forever, holding her. But even in the throes of such bliss, I’d been aware that something was missing.

Anna trailed her fingers along my jaw.We need to save him.

Yes. He is part of us.I accepted that now, more than I ever had.

An annoyed mental voice interrupted.Hey, you two. Get your asses back here. Alex says the wagon is ten minutes out.

I hoped Matt had found himself a nice bush to hide behind—I knew from experience that vicarious sex with one’s bond mates wasn’t suitable for public viewing. I rolled to a sitting position. I should have been emotionally and physically drained, but instead, I felt as though I could fly to the moon.

Anna rose and looked up toward the top of the waterfall.I hope my armor isn’t soaking wet, or I’ll never get into it.

I visualized her squirming into a damp bit of Wyvern hide and raised my brow at her.Be entertaining to watch you try.

Just get her dressed and get back here.Matt’s mindvoice was almost a snarl. If I’d had any idea that she would try flying without bleeding wings...

I met Anna’s bicolored gaze. She shrugged and bit her lip.

Yeah, well, it was a surprise to me too,I pointed out.

If you ever do that again—the words came out in a rush and broke off on a surge of suppressed emotion that I understood all too well.

She won’t do that again. It was a statement, and I captured her gaze as I started the shift to Dragon.
