Cara sailed around the corner and beamed at us. She regarded the shrinking wings behind Matt, blinked, and said, “Well, that explains some things.”

“I’m getting private lessons lined up for him,” Cody said.

Cara smiled up at him. “Excellent.” She breezed by us. “Anna and I are going gating.”

Matt looked rather miserable as he flicked his smaller, but still stubbornly present, wings and pulled his cloak back on. They kept twitching beneath the fabric.

“I’d hide for a minute until everyone’s out front,” I suggested, then added through the link,And I think they’re sexy.I moved in close to slide my fingers along the clearly defined wing bone through the clothing.

His eyes rolled back in his head, and he groaned.Strewth, Angel. That’s bloody incredible.

His powerful reaction pulsed back and forth through our link. I growled, and kissed him.

Cody cleared his throat. “Give it five,” he stated in a hoarse voice. “And then get your scaly ass to the roof.”

“It’s the only thing on me that isn’t scaly,” Matt protested. But his gaze hadn’t left mine, and his hand drifted through my hair.

“Yet,” Cody called back as he disappeared down the hall.

“Enough groping,” Cara stated, grabbing my arm. “We have Bellatis waiting for us. And patience may be something they train for, but it doesn’t come easily to them.”

Matt growled and offered a lopsided grin as I let myself be pulled away. “Have fun, Angel.”

“You too, Toothless.”

His lips peeled back from his teeth. “That,” he stated, “I most definitely am not.”

Trix and I had to run up to my room for my sword before accompanying Cara down the stairs.

“I had a dream with Sebastian last night,” I said.

Her blue gaze riveted on me. “Did he tell you anything about his location?”

I shook my head. “He still doesn’t know. But he’s not in good shape.”

Her mouth straightened. “He’ll be growing weaker.”

“He said that Galeran will have given the horn to Isobel, and that she will have used it for one of her spells.”

Cara looked away. “I fear that may be the case.”

She’d known? “But we need his horn to save him.”

The Watcher’s eyes reflected her sympathy. “I’d hoped to be wrong, and might still be.”

“Sebastian hinted that there is one he recently gave to someone. But he wouldn’t tell me who.”

There was no mistaking her sudden interest. “Gave it away? Hmm.”

“Yes, he said he used it to pay someone. Does that help?”

“It’s a vital clue.” She tapped her chin. “Even if I can locate its whereabouts, it might already have crumbled. But I have ways to strengthen it, if it is still intact.”

“Would it work?”

She placed her hand on my arm. “Hopefully.”
