The brows on both Liberis shot up. “With swords?” Eli asked.

Cara shook her head. “No. She has the ability to suck energy from others and use it to kill them.”

Both stared at me with fascination. “How is that possible? Cass asked.

“I am working on that,” the Watcher said. “And you must be discreet about this. No one else can know. Her life may depend on it.” She stared at them until they both nodded.

Cara settled herself on a nearby rock and gestured to them. “You may begin.”

“Now?” Eli’s brows rose.

I shot her a look too. I was attired to visit a queen, not wrestle with Bellatis.

“She needs to know this, like, yesterday,” Cara said. “Events are not permitting us the luxury of dalliance.”

Eli’s gaze traveled over me. “Like your idea of body armor.”

“Maybe you should try it.” Cass’s lips twitched, the first sign of humor I’d seen. “Might help.”

“Would distract the hell out of you,” Eli agreed.

Cass snorted and stepped closer to me. “I’ll need to know where you’re at, knowledge-wise,”

I cleared my throat. Where to begin? “I need to touch to do anything.”

Cass rubbed his jaw with one square hand as he stared at me. “We do as well.”

“She cannot pull power from the surrounding energies, though,” Cara elaborated from her boulder. “She can only pull from the one she’s touching.”

Eli’s eyebrows rose.

Cass’s head lifted, and he inhaled. As he bespoke his mate, his eyes flashed, and Eli’s answered.

“She has an interesting aroma,” Eli translated for us.

Cara snorted.

I gritted my teeth. “I apparently attract males.”

They both stared at me.

“She might be part Satyr as well,” Cara stated calmly, as if it were an everyday thing.

“But—” Cass began.

“Not possible, I know. But it might be, in this case. Again—”

“Right. Secret.” Eli rolled his eyes, not something I’d ever thought I’d see a Bellati do. “We get it.”

“So... tell me more,” Cass insisted. “Have you used your power on others?”

“Yes.” I tried to keep the emotion out of my voice, but I’d forgotten who I was dealing with. Both Bellatis grew very still, no doubt sensing my energy—anger and guilt and frustration all wrapped up into one chaotic mix. But I raised my chin and continued. “I’ve pulled energy from three Dires—killing two by shredding their hearts—and a blue-skinned guy. I also seduced and killed a Dragon shifter by attacking his brain after unsuccessfully trying to shredhisheart.”

Stated like that, I was acquiring quite the list. Their expressions remained stoic, but I noticed their eyes widened ever so slightly.

“She has also kept her Dire soulmate alive, despite draining him, by giving energy back,” Cara stated.

“Giving itback?” Cass seemed more impressed with that than any of the killing I’d done.
