A nibble, the points of his dropping fangs sending tremors right through her. He licked her, his tongue hot and wet against her skin.
And then Kade bit down.
The pain was eclipsed by the lightning bolt that fired through every cell of her body. She cried out helplessly as it sent her over the edge.
And took him with her.

Zach lay on his bed, watching Godzilla stomp through Tokyo. He usually loved the old monster movies. But tonight’s choice wasn’t even mildly interesting.
The house was dead quiet. He risked a peek, lowering his walls just enough to touch those closest, and get an idea of where they were. Cara was in the kitchen. Laura in her room. Kitani and one of her mates—Cody, he thought—were working on the puzzle in the dining room. Good thing he’d bought a 5000 piecer.
Of the other Weres, or of Jessie, there was no sign. Not in the house, anyway. He put his walls back up. He didn’t want to know any more.
Tonight was the night.
He turned up the volume on Godzilla, as though it had anything to do with drowning out his empathic ability. People screamed and ran as the man in the foam rubber suit bounced up and down on a building.
Looked like fun.
It started as a tingle at the base of his spine that spread through him, making him shiver. He sat up in the bed. Spike flicked an ear at him, groaned, and stretched.
Without warning, Zach’s heart began to pound as powerful emotions pulsed straight through him. His walls shattered as though they were made of glass. Purelust. The electric thrill of beingtouched. Fingers tracing his jaw. The press of lips and tongue. The sharp nip of claws against skin.
Spike bolted as Zach dropped back and writhed on the bed, helpless to stop it. He had no control over his body or mind. He gasped. Desperate for it to end.
To stop—or not.
He wasn’t certain.
It built, agonizingly, as he panted and groaned. He no longer wanted it to stop. He wanted it tofinish. His every emotion stripped naked. Raw. His body throbbed and pulsed. Until, with a fiery pain that pierced him from shoulder to groin, it surged. Wild. Crashing over him, carrying him effortlessly over the edge.
And then it released both his body and mind.
He lay flat on his back, panting, in a hot, wet mess, staring at the ceiling. His heart was leaping like a wild stallion.
A tap at his door.
“Go away, Cara.” The last thing he needed was for anyone to see him like this.
“Zach, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
“Um... you were kinda leaking.”
She had a way of stating the obvious. His face heating, he sat up. “Sorry.”
“It’s okay. More excitement than I’ve had in awhile. And Kitani ran outside with Cody.”
Zach snorted a laugh and rubbed a hand over his face. His heart was finally slowing.
“Buffy’s out here if you need her. I’ll be downstairs.”
Zach sat for ten minutes before he admitted he wasn’t going to rebuild those damned walls without help.
He rose and opened the door for the cat.
