“Naomi. Stop your blathering and get in the room.”
Once inside and shut away. Kieran whispered, “I need you to make noises as if I’m making love to you and I’ll do the same.”
“You will not ravish me?”
“Not now. I want our first time to be slow and without a hall full of people outside.”
“Well, that’s... that’s very nice of you, husband.”
“I can be nice when I want to be, wife.”
Naomi smiled and asked, “What kind of noises?”
“What do you mean, what kind of noises?”
“I dinnae ken the way of the world as well as you.”
“Damn it. Must I do everything?” Kieran grabbed Naomi round the waist, hauled her up against him and kissed her with everything he had. It was then he knew he had made a monumental mistake. Because in all the years of his life, Kieran had never felt the incredible surge of possessiveness that he had at that moment. That little voice in his head came to him shoutingmine! It was the most delectable kiss of his existence, given that they were now married.Married! It was a mistake because Kieran had to use every bit of his energy to stop himself from ravishing her for real.
Naomi gasped, then ever so slowly returned the kiss with fervor. Soon, they were making loud moaning sounds. Kieran pulled away, trying to control his raging heartbeat. He was not expecting that response at all.
“I think I can do better than that,” Naomi said.
“Aye, I might need to help you along, so our pretending seems real.”
“Yes, I think we best pretend some more.”
Soon they were locked in an embrace again. Kieran could not help himself; he was well on the way to ravishing his wife and not waiting for finesse. Their loud noises were part show but mostly real. Then he took over.
Kieran began slapping his hands on the bed and told Naomi to scream. She did. He let out a loud bellow and a groan. He then took a knife and pricked his upper arm to draw blood.
“What are you doing?”
“I promised I would not ravish you. But the sheets must show some kind of proof of consummation.”
“Oh, I see.”
“Take off your clothes and get on the bed.”
“I will do no such thing.”
“Tis just for show. For crying out loud, wife, would you stop fighting me?” Kieran reached across and tore the front of her dress then released his plaid and gently nudged her onto the bed so they were fully exposed, but he shielded her from view by covering her body with his own.
They were locked in a heated embrace with Kieran hovering above her when the door burst open, and the baron stood with anger etched across his face. Kieran turned and locked eyes with the baron.
Naomi looked well and truly tupped, trying to hold the front of her dress together and failing. They could hear snickers down the hall as onlookers clambered for a view. Kieran kept Naomi covered as she clutched his waist and hid her face in the crook of his neck.
Kieran lazily said, “Do you mind, baron? You are interrupting me and my wife.”
The baron’s jaw tightened, and his voice erupted in a furious shout, “You unfaithful whor—.” Before he could finish the word, Kieran swiftly flicked his plaid to shield Naomi from view, then moved across the room with astonishing speed. Kieran’s fist slammed into the baron’s jaw, and it was the last thing he saw before collapsing to the floor. “Call my wife that word again, and it will be the last you ever utter on earth.”
The baron’s men dragged Guy out of the room. Realizing for the first time the real danger they were in. The naked Highlander in front of them looked as if he had no qualms killing them all.
