“Ditto, honey. It’s very sexy.”

Wraith growls as he nips my shoulder. “I cannot get over how incredible you smell. If that weasel of a human male?—”

“Deveroux is here,” Declan says from the doorway. “And he has enough men with him to surround the entire house.”

“Give us a moment.”

“How many are you willing to allow inside?”

“Two,” my mate grunts, already annoyed with everything that’s about to happen. “And they have to remain outside the study while we talk.”

The corner of Declan’s lips curves up into a smirk. “He’s not going to agree to that.”

“I don’t bloody care, he agrees or he leaves, it’s entirely his choice.”

“Ok, ok. Don’t get your knickers in a twist.”

Wraith scowls then points to the door. “Give us a moment, please. Your queen needs time to take her leave and we can use that as an excuse to keep that horrible man waiting.”

Wraith

Gods, I hate this shite.

The ridiculous ways of conducting business, all for the sake of two governments I plan to overthrow in one way or another.

I suppose I can’t exactly overthrow myself but I intend to gut our laws, pick apart the treaty, and make things far more tolerable for our kind.

“I don’t want to leave.”

My brow arches as I look at my mate. “I don’t believe I gave you an option.”

“No, but I want to stay and see the President. You know how much things like this fascinate me. Please, honey, let me stay.”

“And how do you plan to go unnoticed? Or were you going to use your glamor again, giving Deveroux the impression I’ve moved on from my dearly departed mate for someone on the complete opposite end of the spectrum?” I chuckle as Zephyr’s brows slam down over her glowing eyes. “Jealous of yourself, are you?”

She crosses her arms against her chest and purses her lips. “No.”

Lifting my hand to her chin, I grip it firmly between my thumb and forefinger, guiding her pouting mouth to my grinning one. “I like you jealous, even if it makes no sense at all.”

My gentle breeze gives me an adorable, perturbed grunt, one that turns into protesting when I slap her bum and attempt to get her moving.

“Zephyr… “

“Please let me stay, baby. I promise, I’ll be quiet as a mouse, you won’t even know I’m here.” She folds her hands together under her chin, batting her long lashes at me while she begs. “Consider it research. You know how much I love this stuff, I was studying it for years. Wraith, please?—”

“Fine!” I throw my hands up in the air as she bounces to her feet. “I can never say no to you and it’s really becoming a problem.” Fixing my hair, I tilt my head and watch my mate practically buzz with excitement. “Where are you going tobe asquiet as a mousefrom, exactly? There isn’t much in here to hide behind.”

There’s nothing to hide behind.

This room was created to be a study of some sort, there is no doubt, with the shelves built into the walls and space for little furniture aside from the desk. It will serve well as a place for things of this nature when called for, but I’m not a huge fan of having so many people traipsing through my home.

I can deal with that when the time comes because right now, I have a bigger dilemma on my hands.

Where to hide my mate that does not need to be here.

I may have fibbed a bit when Zephyr asked if Ester gave us anything last night.

She wasn’t going to at first, I could tell without having to tap into her thoughts but that’s why we brought Edith with us, that and she requested to be there, and the moment her mate walked out into the yard, Ester cracked.
