Maybe I can get out.

I’m not entirely sure how I’d get past Zak or Sam, but I’m sure there’s a way. There has to be.

If I could distract them, I could sneak out to their garage and take the Denali. And I’m sure there’s a way to use the tracking app Fin put on my phone to find his location. It can’t be that hard to use, right? I’m sure I could figure it out anyway and then I could roll up and help instead of sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

I can’t sit here while the two men I love more than anything are in danger.

And as if she knew and was trying to help, Willa—Sam and Sofie’s baby girl—lets out a wail from upstairs that could wake the dead.

“She’s probably hungry.” Sofie gets up from her stool and rounds the island, then grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze. “They’ll bring your baby home, Tate. Spider will bring him home.”

I nod and force a smile. And I’m going to make damn sure of it.

Now I just need to get Zak away from the front door and… “Dori?”

My sister looks up at me with red rimmed eyes.

“When was the last time you ate?”

“Uhm… I’m not really sure. I had a couple of leftover brats around two in the morning, but I can’t remember if I ate anything after that.”

I fold my arms against my chest and give her my best stern look. “You need to eat. And when was the last time you peed? I don’t think you’ve done that since I got here and if that’s the case, you’re going to be in trouble when the urge finally hits.”

Dori’s face pales. “It hit. Oh man, has it hit. I have to pee. I have to peenow.”

Perfect.“Zak!” I call into the hall. “Zak, Dori has to pee and she can’t get up!” Unfortunately she really can’t because she’s been sitting in a super stiff, high-back wooden chair for the last few hours, and I’m sure her leg is asleep on top of the swollen ankles.

I hate using my sister being a million years pregnant as a distraction, but it’ll get one overprotective MC member out of earshot and then I’ll only have Sam to worry about.

Zak appears in the doorway with a frown but it turns into an adorable grin as he sees his wife fighting to get out of her seat. “Hold on, Blondie. I got you.”

“I can get up.” She huffs. “I’m not an invalid.”

“No, but you’re carrying my baby and that boy is already big. We’ll probably have to buy you a lift before October just to make sure you can still get around.”

Dori scowls but it turns into a giggle as Zak lifts her out of the chair and starts carrying her down the hall. “I can walk, too, you know!”

“Yeah, but if I carry you then I can participate.”

“In me peeing?”

“Well, no, but I like taking your pants off so I’ll always jump at the chance to do that.”

My chest tightens as I listen to my sister laugh, as she goes back and forth with her husband about their baby in a way that makes me sad.

I’m not jealous of Dori, and I’m so happy for them, but my son and my man are out in the unknown right now and I want what my sister has—what we had before this morning—with them again.

So, as soon as I’m alone with Harlow, Summer, and Jolie, I turn to them and put my game face on.

“I knew it!” Harlow whispers. “You’re going to bail, aren’t you?”

I nod. “I know everyone cares and just wants me to be safe, but I can’t sit here with my thumb up my ass any longer.”

“How can we help?” Summer leans forward with a grin.

“I need to get Sam upstairs with Sofie.” I glance into the hall then back at the three ladies who were obviously waiting for this to happen. “And then I need to get out of here.”

Harlow nods. “We can’t take any of the cars.”
