“You’ll be fine.”

“Will not!” I throw a few more pieces of clothing on the floor. “Especially since I have nothing to wear.”

“I thought we agreed on that black mini dress with the red pumps?”

“I can’t wear that!”

Summer giggles. “Yes, you can. That dress is so hot on you. Did you ask Zak?”

I hear the front door open and close, which means Zak is back, so I rush to make sure the bedroom door is locked but my feet get tangled in the mess I’ve made and I basically fall into it face first with a deafening thud.

Wonderful.

“Theo? Babe, are you ok? What was that?” Summer’s tone is a little more serious as Zak’s footsteps change directions and head my way.

“Blondie?”

“I’m fine!” I shriek, lock the door, and smother a scream when I realize I broke my glasses. “Totally fine, everything is great.”

“Theo, honey, what was that noise?”

Shit.“Nothing!” I scramble to my feet and end up throwing myself against the door. “Nothing is happening in here, just getting dressed.”

“Theo.” The knob turns a couple times. “Theo, open up. I want to make sure you’re ok.”

“I’m fine, Zak.”Not really.“I’m getting dressed though so just, uh, I left your lunch in the microwave!”

A hard jiggle on the doorknob. “I need visual confirmation, Blondie, so if you don’t open this door and show me you aren’t fighting off some asshole that’s trying to kidnap you in the next three seconds, I’m kicking the door in.”

Shit.

He’ll do it too.

If I’ve learned anything about Zak Wyatt over the last four days, it’s that he is a man of his word.

And I learned his last name, which is nice.

I look around my room in a total panic because I’m naked and my face hurts and I’m still freaking out, snatch one of the million throws off the end of my bed then almost bite it again when I drape it over my head and wrap it around my body like a cloak. With a deep breath, I unlock the door, crack it just a bit then squint up at my so sexy roommate-slash-new-kinda-maybe-boyfriend.

“See? Everything is fine.”

His brows lift as he scans the carnage behind me. “What the hell have you been doing?”

“Oh, you know, just… talking to Summer while I get ready.”

Zak smirks as his gorgeous eyes land on my face. “You decided to wear your Spock blanket?”

I blush right down to my toes. “Maybe.”

“Prez will love that. He’s a Trekky, but you gotta keep that between us.” Then he leans down and kisses me senseless. “No one outside the Executive Committee knows that.”

“His secret is safe with me.” I sigh as Zak kisses me again. “You get everything set up?”

He nods as he rubs his nose against mine, something that makes me swoon so hard every time he does it. “Clubhouse looks like the fucking Ritz.”

“Good. Now go eat and get yourself ready so I can finish up.”

“Yes, ma’am.” With one more sweeter-than-sugar kiss, Zak straightens and heads down the hall. “Come on, Fabio. I stopped and got your vegan donuts.”
