“Zak...”
My tongue glides along her parted lips, sweeps inside her mouth and when Theo fists the front of my shirt so hard I hear a stitch pop, I growl and force myself to stop. If I keep going, I’m going to fuck her right here on the couch, and though I’m not against that at some point, now is not the time.
“Why...” Theo blinks multiple times, her eyes unfocused, her cheeks flushed. She licks her lips as she stares at my mouth and fuck, I’m going to kiss her again. “Why did you kiss me?”
Yep. Gonna kiss her again.
A little gentler this time, I dip my head and nip her lower lip, kissing her so softly she sighs against me. “Have to kiss you, Blondie. Might die if I don’t.”
I feel her smile against my lips. “That’s a load of shit if I’ve ever heard one.”
One more kiss before I pull back and look her over, wiping the left-over tears from her eyes as I smirk. “You, Theodora Marie Covington, are worth fighting for. You’re worth sticking around for. You’re worth so much more than you realize, you’ve just been dealt a shitty hand when it comes to the people in your life.”
“You don’t really know me well enough to say that, but it earns you major brownie points for saying it anyway.”
I chuckle and press a small kiss to her lips because I can’t get enough. “I have a feeling I know you better than you think, honey.” Mostly because I’ve been stalking her for almost a month. I’ll leave that part out for now though.
Theo bites her lip. “Why did you come back?”
“A couple reasons, but mostly because staying away from you was making me a raging prick.”
Fuck me, that smile. Pure, innocent, beautiful and all fucking mine.
It’ll disappear in a minute though when I tell her everything.
I rub my hands over my thighs, flinch just a bit when Theo’s shoulders bunch to her ears. “That being said, there’s a pretty important reason I’m here aside from not wanting to be anywhere else.”
“Ok...”
“You remember those guys from MACs, the ones who kept bugging you while you were there?”
She nods.
“Well, when I left that Saturday, there was a note sitting on my bike from them.” I blow out a breath. “A threat they made against both of us.”
Theo shoots up from the couch and runs over to the window, parts the blinds, and peeks outside. “They know where I live?!”
“Yeah, but I’ve been keeping an eye on your place; driving by and watching to make sure they didn’t come back.”
“How did they find me?Why? Oh my god.” She presses a hand to her forehead and starts to pace. “I saw a truck a few nights ago, a silver one. It slowed down while I was taking the trash out, but it didn’t stop or anything.”
Fuck.
That’s the same truck I saw this morning.
“Did you get a look at the driver?”
Theo shakes her head. “No. The windows were up, and they were tinted. How did they find me, Zak? Why are they creeping around my apartment?”
“Both of those are my fault. They probably followed you and me, or Jackal and Brick when they left the bar, and they’re trying to scare you because they’re idiots from another club that seem to have a stick up their ass about mine.”
“Oh my god.” Theo fists her hair at the roots. “I’m in danger? You’rein danger? All because I went to a biker bar and refused toride their hogs?”
“It goes a little beyond that, but it’s probably what planted the seed.” Well, that was stupid to say because now she looks terrified. Can’t help but be honest with her though. “The fact that four of us won a fight against at least double their numbers is a blow to the club’s ego and then Little John banning them probably made it worse. The Cobra Cons are a newer club trying to build a reputation and we sort of shot a hole in it.”
“Oh my god, I started a goddamn motorcycle club war.” Theo is breathing heavy, her amber eyes wide. “I’m so sorry, Zak. You should have just left me alone because then you wouldn’t be in this situation. I’m a fucking curse.”
I’m on my feet and in her face before she can blink. “This isn’t your fault, honey.” I grip the sides of her neck and make sure she’s looking at me. “Like I said, I can’t seem to stay away from you even when I’ve tried, so this would have happened one way or another.”
