But she doesn’t.
She just shrugs. “Then we’ll go to mine. Is your bike going to be ok overnight?”
How the hell does she just roll with the punches so easily? Trust me without so much as a blink of her pretty as hell eyes? “Jackal will ride it to your apartment with his bike in the bed of Brick’s truck.”
“Ok.”
“Will your friend be all right?”
Blondie snorts, which is adorable, then giggles hard, also adorable, shuts my door and continues laughing right up until she backs out and starts toward Vista Heights.
“Should I be worried about your blood alcohol level?”
She shakes her head and tries to calm down. “Summer will be totally fine.” Another wave of giggles. “She’s a lesbian.”
I feel a smile pull at my lips but I’m not sure what that means, so I ask. “Does that make her a badass or something?”
“Summer is also a badass, but she’s very into women so your friends might be in for one hell of a night.” Blondie snorts again. “You should probably be more worried about them, honestly.”
“Just because she’s a lesbian?”
“She hasn't been with a man since she realized she didn’t like them and if she meant what she said, Summer is going to make Jackal her first dick since she was fourteen.”
Now I’m laughing. I’m not sure why this is funny, but it is, and I like laughing with Blondie. I rarely do it at all, but with her it feels right.
“Summer is insane,” she snorts, then wheezes. “And while I have a feeling Jackal can probably keep up, my bestie is going to make sure he’s the one walking funny tomorrow.”
“Jesus. I’m almost disappointed we left.”
Blondie nods. “Summer is very entertaining.”
“You been friends a long time?”
“Since college.”
“Which was where?”
“NYU.”
“Is that where you’re from?”
Blondie shakes her head. “Not originally. I’m from Delaware but Summer is a New Yorker, born and raised.”
“She still live there?” I scoot around a little so I can see her better.
“Yeah.” Blondie sighs. “She flew in this morning and leaves Sunday night.”
“Shit,” I grunt. “So, we fucked up your weekend?”
“Hardly.”
I frown as I stare at her gorgeous profile.
“Summer came out here because last weekend I went MIA after the shitshow I was dealing with before I went to MACs the first time.” She bites her lip, then glances at me. “And because she thought it was the only way I’d go back there to find you.”
My brows lift. “You told her about me?” I will not be acknowledging the way that makes my heart beat a little faster or how my chest puffs a little. Nope. Didn’t happen.
“Of course.” She grins. “Best friend code. When you find your now ex-boyfriend of almost six years naked in his kitchen with another woman and a man, then go to a biker bar to prove you aren’t all the things he says you are and wind up meeting a knight in shining leather, you’re basically obligated to tell your best friend.”
