He's been speaking to Daisy in Slovakian since the time he met Allie, and the young seems to have picked up on it just as quickly as the English she knows.
Which is why she leans forward and plants a big wet kiss on my light, smiles and says, "Tank Teera."
Auntie Cora equals Teera in Daisy-land.
Just like I'm lovingly referred to asCaca Cock. She hasn't quite mastered Uncle Vok yet, and my brothers razz me to no end over it, but I just shoot back that she calls all of us caca most of the time and calls Kai,Caca Smear. If I'm poop dick, he's poop smear.
"Allie is finally resting?" Andrej asks as he joins us, Daisy pressing baby kisses to the scars on his face the way she always does.
"Mmhmm." My light responds with too much mischief. "She was pretty exhausted after we cleaned up the kitchen so I told her to take a nap while I got my baby fix."
“Good," he grunts just before his eyes practically pop out of their sockets at her next words.
"When were you going to tell us she's pregnant?"
Andrej blinks those saucer wide black orbs while my jaw practically hits the table.
Cora smirks. "Not any time soon, obviously."
"How did—"
"How did I know?" She shrugs. "Not sure, maybe a little woman's intuition, maybe something else entirely." Then she chews her thumb, a nervous tell that temporarily kills my joy. "I've known for a while now, but the way the two of you have been acting led me to believe I'm right."
Andrej starts rocking Daisy, eyes plastered to my mate. "She is only a few weeks along, four at most. I was only able to scent it a couple weeks ago myself, but was still unsure due to her nursing my flower child."
Typically between the two to six week mark, shifters and vampires can scent the change in their mate’s hormones, scent their young shortly after conception, and those around them can generally pick up the change around the five to six week mark as well. It would explain why none of us knew of their pregnancy yet but since my Cora is neither vampire nor shifter, I have no fucking clue how she knew before any of us, including Andrej.
"I get that..." Cora bites her thumb harder, leans back against the chair. "But it's different."
"What is different, angel?" I ask nervously, because what in the actual fuck.
She shrugs, gnawing her thumb.
"Cora..."
"Her aura."
I blink.
Andrej blinks.
We share a look.
Daisy farts.
We share another look.
Cora rolls her eyes.
"What do you mean heraurais different?" Andrej grunts, a brow lifted as he raises Daisy's butt to his face to make sure she didn't just crap her pants.
My light shrugs, chews her thumb so hard she may draw blood. "So, there's something I haven't exactly told you about..."
Her eyes lock in on mine and I see that she means me specifically, but I also see just a touch of fear, a bit of unease and since I don't know why, it fucking guts me.
So I reach out and remove her thumb from her teeth before it's nothing but a bloody stump and smooth my thumb over the erratic pulse in her wrist.
"What haven't you shared, my angel?"
