"Havok has not properly fed from a human in almost three hundred years."

And now I'm relieved.

And shocked.

And floored.

And really fucking worried.

I have a lot of fucking questions for my vampire when he wakes up.

And he will most definitely wake up.

I'm going to make sure of it.

"So what does that mean? If he isn't feeding what does that mean for this particular situation?"

Kai rubs my shoulder. "It means it takes him longer to heal, and with injuries such as this, there is a possibility it will take him weeks, maybe months to heal completely."

"But if he fed then that would help?"

Henrich's head snaps in my direction. "No. No, little one, stop right there. I can appreciate your line of thinking, your willingness to provide what he needs, but I cannot in good conscience allow you to do that."

"And why the hell not?!"

"Because, well, because I fear there is more to it than just giving him a shot of your blood. The science of it tells us that there is a need for the fangs to pierce flesh when a vampire feeds. They must pierce the flesh to draw blood fresh from the source and they secrete a substance that acts as a thinner to consume more as well as a coagulant so they can stop the bleeding. The bite is critical which is proven by the elements in the saliva. Blood that does not flow through a body could be harmful."

"Ok? And? I'll just stick my wrist in his mouth or something. That should work right?"

Henrich shakes his head.

"Ok, what else then? What's the problem?"

"It's just not that simple, I'm afraid. And to be perfectly honest, in his current state, after not feeding for so long, fresh blood could spark Havok's potential to act out of bloodlust."

"If I help him will it turn me into a vampire?"

Another shake.

"Will it kill me?"

And another.

"Is bloodlust a sure thing?"

One more.

"Then what? What can happen that is so horrible you'd even consider hesitating on something that could help him?"

"Um… well..." Henrich stands a little straighter, looks to his brothers for support then goes back to washing Havok's blood off his face and chest. "There are other things that can take place, things I feel Havok should explain to you, things he'd be better suited to explain. And since he cannot, I don't think it's right for me to do so in his place or allow you to get him to feed from you without all the knowledge."

"You've got to be fucking kidding me?" I turn to Kai and Andrej. "Do you agree with him?"

Kai nods but Andrej's lip twitches.

He doesn't.

Andrej thinks I should do it.
