Sugar.
Dewy Tiger lily.
The slightest touch of raspberry.
Her taste is the same, the same as her scent, the same as it was all those years ago.
And this kiss, this kiss is everything.
A second first kiss with my one true love.
Something I never thought would happen; something I thought would be but a memory, a memory I prayed would stay ingrained in my mind until my sanity slipped from my grasp completely.
But this is not a dream, not a memory.
It is a second chance to be with my light for the rest of my days.
A promise.
A new beginning.
My angel presses one more sweet kiss to my lips with a smile, a smile that I've seen and felt against my skin so many times and I can't help but return it.
Then she sits up, brushes my hair off my forehead and sighs. ”I've wanted to do that since the first time I saw you."
Deja vu.
This woman absolutely slays me with the way she has fallen back into our romance as easily as drawing her next breath.
"Is that so?"
She nods with a grin. "Like I said, you're really fucking hot."
I bark out a laugh and pull her to me, nestle her against my body, and wrap her in my arms. "Again, the feeling is mutual, my angel. I've wanted to kiss you for just as long, for practically the same reason."
"Be careful, Havok. You keep saying things like that to me and you may never be able to get rid of me."
I smile into her hair as she snuggles even closer. "I would have it no other way, angel."
Absolutely no other way.
New and Familiar All at Once
We slept for almost two days.
It was about seven thirty in the morning by the time we went back to sleep, all because I was insistent that Havok let me look over his injuries, but that was pretty silly.
Stupid, really.
I guess vampires heal very fast, and by the time he quit arguing with me over how unnecessary it was, most of the blisters and burnt flesh were just patches of pink against his fair skin.
But that's not exactly the stupid part.
The stupid part was that, in my making a fuss over him, Havok took his shirt off to prove that the damage was minimal and already going away, but I didn't hear a damn thing he said the second the charred fabric hit the floor.
Nope, I temporarily went deaf, dumb, and mute at the sight.
Never in my life have I seen so many muscles.
