Bastards.
"Where's your head right now, angel?" Havok squeezes my hand as we stop in front of the pantry door that will take us into the main house.
Despite the fact that he didn't go up in flames, Havok decided not to push the envelope, and we took the tunnel to the house. Until we know for sure that it wasn't just some fluke, he wants to be safe.
I grin up at him, totally high on life at the moment. "Just thinking about you and how fucking lucky I am."
He scoffs a little. "You are simply saying that because I just delivered multiple orgasms."
"That's part of it, sure. You are quite skilled, I will give you that."
"That is a mutual statement." Havok smiles as he leans down to kiss me. "I did not think it was possible for males to orgasm more than once during sex and yet you have somehow proved me wrong."
I giggle and break out into hives as I bow. "But it's not just that, lovey. You are absolutely perfect and make me so fucking happy, even when we bicker. I am the luckiest girl simply by having you in my life."
His eyes soften, a sweet and slightly sheepish smile pulls at his fantastic lips. "You flatter me." Then he smirks. "If you keep it up I won't know what to do with myself. My ego will continue to grow and I may find I need to be fed compliments daily, right along with your decadent blood and fabulous cunt."
I roll my eyes but push up on my tiptoes, grab his goatee and pull him to me for another kiss. "You'll have to settle for two out of three because I'm sure I'll be insulting you before the day is out."
"I would have it no other way." With one more loud smack to my lips, Havok turns the knob and pushes into the pantry.
We walk through the kitchen in search of Henrich, hand in hand, a definite spring in my step.
"So what exactly is a fae? I've never—"
"Congratulations!"
We stop abruptly in the dining room to find the whole house standing there—the brothers, the girls, Hank and Janet, Karel, and Daisy clapping without understanding why. I blink as hives spread across my body, my stomach flipping with butterflies and my hold on Havok's hand tightens.
The dining room is decorated with balloons and streamers, flowers and a huge spread of food. There's even a banner, one readsCongrats Newly-mates!.
Obviously Henrich told everyone we finally did the deed, and if they didn't know it also meant I lost my virginity—finally—I'd probably be moved by such a sweet surprise.
But it feels a little like they're celebrating the fact that Havok and I popped our cherries instead of mating. I know that's not the case, but I can't help feeling that way.
Also, I hate surprises.
"Yay!" Casey claps as she rushes us, hugs Havok, then proceeds to smother me in her arms. "We are so happy for you! So happy!" A tear rolls down her cheek as she lets go of me, her smile huge, eyes watery. "This is just so great! The fact that you and Vok mated, finally found each other after so long, and get to be together forever. It's amazing!"
My anxiety subsides as her words sink in.
She's right.
This isn't a celebration of finally having sex, it's a celebration of the obstacles we've overcome to get here, the way we found each other again, and have a real chance at forever.
Given I don't get murdered in the next eight hours, anyway.
Casey squeals then hugs me again and that's when I hear it.
Two heartbeats.
So when she lets go and makes room for everyone to wish us well, I stare at her like a weirdo and see a small blip in her aura, her essence, a new color that isn't quite defined yet but is obviously there.
Casey and Milos are pregnant and I'd put money on neither one of them having a clue.
We definitely need to talk to Henrich about what the hell is going on with me.
Which is exactly what we do after the very thoughtful party they threw us.
