Zane left the room with her men, and I continued to walk around. The furniture looked good as fuck in here. I left the bedroom, went to my office, grabbed the sheet set I ordered, andreturned to the room. Working quickly, I put the sheets on the bed, as well as the million fucking pillows and comforter.
“Blue and purple?” Amethyst questioned as he walked back into the room. He bit into an apple. “That’s not your normal style.”
“It’s what she wanted,” I replied, stepping back from the bed to ensure everything looked right. “Did my paintings come?”
“Nah,” Amethyst answered, then took another bite of his apple. “Who’s supposed to be bringing them?”
“Don’t worry about it,” I said, then fixed the comforter. “Just know I’m expecting something.”
“Noted,” he said, then nodded. “Now bring your ass, I’m hungry.”
“Give me thirty,” I said, then walked to the bathroom to grab the eye drops I sometimes had to use when my allergies were fucking with me from the counter. “I’ll introduce you to Fable over breakfast.”
“Yeah?” he chuckled, and I nodded. “Yeah nigga, mama said you had it bad; I just didn’t think it was this bad already.”
“Mind your business, Amethyst,” I said as I passed him.
“I’m hungry now, nigga.”
“Thirty fucking minutes, Amethyst!” I yelled as I scanned my hand to unlock the door to my temporary room. I opened the door, stepped inside, closed it, and looked around. “Fable?”
“Yeah,” she answered.
I stepped further into the room, looking at the bed to see her sitting on the floor. “Why the fuck are you on the floor?”
“I told you I wouldn’t lay in a bed another bitch has laid in,” she answered as she stood. I handed her the eye drops. “Is this my new cage?”
“Cage?” I questioned her, and she nodded. “That’s what you think this is?”
“It’s what I know it is,” she answered, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Would you like to come out?”
“And do what?”
“Have breakfast with me and my brother,” I suggested, and she gave me a look that said she didn’t believe me. “Amethyst is downstairs. I told him to give me thirty minutes, and then we’d be down.”
“Why is he here?”
“You’re going to show off your baking skills and prove that my idea is going to work,” I said as I turned and walked to the door. “We will go back to your room; you can get ready, and I’ll be back to get you in thirty minutes.” I faced Fable and watched as her eyes ballooned in surprise. “I told you I had plans for you, and I meant that.”
“Thirty minutes?” she questioned, and I nodded. “Okay.”
I don’t know if I expected her to argue or question my plans, but when she didn’t, I slightly relaxed. Maybe she was starting to trust me. I scanned my thumb and waited for the sound of the locks to disengage before turning the handle and opening the door. “Let’s go.” I put my hand out for her to take. Fable hesitated momentarily before she put her hand in mine, and I led her back to my room.
“You changed everything?” She walked around the room, taking everything in. The room was dope as fuck; stepping out and then walking back in made me appreciate Zane’s work. She’d done a hell of a job and was worth every penny I paid.
“I did.” I gave her a singular nod.
“Why?”
“Because you told me to,” I answered. My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I pulled it out to see a text from Hood regarding the Legacy stalker situation. I answered him, stuffed my phoneback in my pocket, and looked up to see Fable watching me with a guarded look. “You okay?”
“Yes,” she nodded.
“Alright, I’ll be back in thirty,” I said, then left the room, ensuring the door closed and locked behind me before leaving.
“Citrine said to call him later,” Amethyst said when I entered the kitchen. His attention was on his laptop, and his face twisted as if he didn’t like what he saw. “And before you ask, I don’t know what he needs or wants.”
