“Courtlyn, this is the best welcome home present I could have ever gotten. If I had known, I never would have left. I can talk to Jay first thing tomorrow. I’ll tell him I need to step down from the team. It’s dangerous, and with a baby on the way, I want to make sure I’m here to raise him or her. Or them, if it happens to be twins. I swear to you, I’ll do my damnedest to make a good dad.”

“Slow down, Wings. I don’t want you to step down from the team.”

“What? But Jay and Tryst both stepped back for their families. I think it makes sense for me to do the same.”

Her heart melted at what he was willing to sacrifice for their growing family. “Wings, listen to me. I’ve had time to think this over. You can’t step down from the team. Not yet. Look, I don’t even know where you were or what you were doing, but I have no doubt that you and the guys saved someone. Or several someones. Just like you saved me when I was kidnapped. I wouldn’t be here without you guys. Our baby wouldn’t exist if you guys hadn’t rescued me when you did. You can’t quit the team, not when there are more people who need you to help them.”

“Damn,” Wings breathed. “You’re amazing.”

She gave him a quick kiss before pushing him away. “Now go and take that shower. Now that I’ve seduced your sexy body, we’re going out to celebrate. Then you’re going to bring me home, and you’re going to worship my body and give me all the orgasms I’ve been missing since you’ve been gone.”

He laughed. “Whatever you want, baby. I love you.”

“I love you back.”

After he disappeared into the bathroom, she rose and dressed. Then she retrieved his bag from the yard before settling on the couch. Her first trimester of pregnancy hadn’t given her any morning sickness, but she now had the ability to fall asleep at the drop of a hat. She wanted to enjoy the evening with her husband, and to do that, she needed a nap while he finished his shower.

She fell into a dreamless sleep, content in the knowledge that she was no longer alone, that her luck was no longer a factor in her life. No matter what good or bad came into her life, with Wings and their baby, she would face it all without fear.
